Canadian Rural Partnership, Pilot Projects 2000-2001. Northwest Territories. The Community Gardening Society of Inuvik has converted a decommissioned arena into a community greenhouse which will extend the growing season of numerous plants and vegetables, ensure a successful harvest and allow production of a greater variety of fresh produce. Greenhouse officials also plan to study the effect of longer summer hours on crops. The greenhouse will be the most northerly greenhouse in Canada and will serve as an effective model for other northern communities.

Les responsables de la serre envisagent aussi d'étudier l'effet sur la croissance des cultures d'un allongement des heures d'éclairement d'été. La serre sera la plus septentrionale des serres du Canada et servira de modèle efficace pour d'autres communautés du Nord.
