... the solution — off-throttle steering — is now taken for granted by most PWC [personal watercraft] consumers. Many may not even realize their craft have the capability for good reason. The inclusion of OTS into most craft is relatively seamless. The system works by detecting two coinciding occurrences, the abrupt release of the throttle and a full turn to port or starboard. Electronic sensors note the two situations, and respond by increasing RPM [revolutions per minute] just enough to once again push some water through the jet nozzle. That small blast of propulsion is just enough to start the craft turning in the direction the driver has turned the handlebars, hopefully allowing the craft to begin an evasive maneuver and avoid the object in the craft's path. 2, record 25, English, - off%2Dthrottle%20assisted%20steering

Artificial intelligence-induced psychosis is a relatively new term to describe a condition where prolonged or intense interactions with artificial intelligence(AI) tools lead to or exacerbate psychotic symptoms in vulnerable individuals. Although AI was intended to improve communication, workflow, and aid productivity, increased dependence and usage of AI have raised potential psychological risks. With the rise of AI chatbots used in daily life, the possibility of AI-related psychosis is a growing concern for mental health professionals. 1, record 27, English, - artificial%20intelligence%2Dinduced%20psychosis

When studying evolution, DNA is especially important in its application to identifying and separating organisms into species. However, DNA is a fragile molecule, and it degrades over time. For most fossil species, there is essentially no hope of ever acquiring DNA from their fossils, so answers to questions about their appearance, physiology, population structure, and more may never be fully answerable. For more recently extinct species, scientists have, and continue to, extract ancient DNA(aDNA) which they use to reconstruct the genome of long-gone ancestors and relatives. 4, record 37, English, - ancient%20deoxyribonucleic%20acid

Regenerative medicine is an evolving field that focuses on harnessing the body's intrinsic ability to repair and restore damaged tissues. Autologous platelet concentrates, including platelet-rich plasma(PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin(PRF), have emerged as promising biological tools in tissue regeneration and repair. Autologous platelet concentrates are derived from the patient's own blood, containing a concentrated mix of growth factors, cytokines, and bioactive proteins that play a crucial role in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and matrix remodeling.... When foveal detachment occurs in eyes with MF [myopic foveoschisis], surgery is necessary to prevent further deterioration. Vitrectomy and complete ILM peeling have been suggested to flatten the retina, but postoperative MH [macular holes] has been reported to occur in approximately 20% of cases. ILM peeling removes the Müller cone cells, which form the base of the fovea and serve as a plug that binds the photoreceptor cells in the foveola and supports the foveola structurally. The stretched retina in a highly myopic eye can easily induce a MH without this structure. To prevent postoperative MH, fovea-sparing ILM peeling was introduced. Studies have shown that this technique can prevent MH formation very effectively. A piece of ILM is preserved in the center of fovea to prevent damage to the Müller cone cells during surgery... 3, record 41, English, - fovea%2Dsparing%20internal%20limiting%20membrane%20peeling

Microincision vitrectomy surgery(MIVS) is one of the most significant innovations in vitreous surgery since the modern vitrectomy was developed... in the early 1970s. MIVS is defined as a combination of 25-or 23-gauge instrumentation and a transconjunctival sutureless procedure. The indication of MIVS was limited in macular surgery for several years after its introduction because of several disadvantages, including flexible instruments, lower aspiration rate, and dim illumination. The stiffness of instruments, cutting rates, and aspiration rates have been improved and the introduction of brighter light sources, such as xenon lamps, has improved illumination. As a result of these improvements, the indications for MIVS have expanded to include complicated cases with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. 6, record 42, English, - microincision%20vitrectomy%20surgery

1, record 47, French, - h%C3%A9patite%20non%20A%2C%20non%20B%20post%2Dtransfusionnelle

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an ongoing lung condition caused by damage to the lungs. The damage results in swelling and irritation, also called inflammation, inside the airways that limit airflow into and out of the lungs. This limited airflow is known as obstruction. Symptoms include trouble breathing, a daily cough that brings up mucus and a tight, whistling sound in the lungs called wheezing. COPD is most often caused by long-term exposure to irritating smoke, fumes, dust or chemicals. The most common cause is cigarette smoke. ... Although COPD is a condition that can get worse over time, COPD is treatable. 5, record 48, English, - chronic%20obstructive%20pulmonary%20disease

Since the early 20th century, scientists have discovered several types of "selfish genetic elements" that are present naturally in the genomes of many species. These naturally occurring genetic elements are able to enhance their own transmission relative to the rest of the genes in the genome regardless of whether their presence is neutral or even harmful to the individual organism as a whole, and thus they exhibit drive and are called "natural gene drives. "Examples of natural gene drives include homing endonuclease genes found in all forms of microbial life, transposable elements found in many plants and animals, and meiotic drive also found in various plants and animals. 4, record 54, English, - natural%20gene%20drive

Ce règlement a été abrogé en 2017 et remplacé par le Règlement sur la sécurité de la navigation et la prévention de la pollution dans l'Arctique. Victim-offender meetings are organised to give offenders a chance to take active steps to make voluntary reparation to their victims. Such reparation extends much further than financial compensation. It includes an apology and an explanation of how the crime came about, and the offender has to listen to the victim's own story and respond to it. The exchange can be therapeutic for victims and usually has a visible impact upon the offenders, who have to face up to the reality of what they have done. 5, record 71, English, - victim%2Doffender%20meeting

There are four possible methods of postaerating treatment plant effluent. Two of these methods, diffused aeration and mechanical aeration, are essentially the same as those employed in biological treatment processes. The other methods, called cascade aeration and U-tube aeration, can be attractive alternatives. In cascade aeration, effluent is discharged over a series of steps or weirs in thin layers with the objective of maximizing turbulence, thereby increasing oxygen transfer. Cascade aeration is an attractive postaeration technique where sufficient head is available after secondary clarification. While U-tube aerators have not yet been employed in postaeration, they have been suggested as an attractive alternative to other postaeration methods. 2, record 80, English, - cascade%20aeration

The Amsler grid is a chart that is specifically designed to qualitatively analyze the disturbances of visual function that accompany the beginning and evolution of maculopathies. The charts are a series of lined and patterned grids that test the central visual field within 10 degrees of fixation where the plates are held at 1/3 of a meter from the eyes. Each square of the grid subtends [one] degree of visual angle, making the ability to define the location of small defects rather easy.... The Amsler grid test is quick and easy to administer. The patient is instructed to look at the central dot and asked if, in fact, he/she can see it. If not, the patient may have a central scotoma, and the examiner must query the patient regarding exactly what he/she "does" see. If the patient sees the dot, the examiner asks if the patient is aware that surrounding it are numerous squares. The examiner then asks the patient if any of the squares are distorted, missing, etc. 3, record 94, English, - Amsler%20grid%20test

In recent judgments of the Supreme Court of Canada, Aboriginal law is used to describe a body of Canadian law and interpretive canons that define a set of "existing aboriginal and treaty rights, "which have been constitutionally protected since 1982 by subsection 35(1) of the Constitution Act, 1982.
