Anaplasmosis, also known as human granulocytic anaplasmosis, is a tickborne disease caused by the bite of a tick carrying the bacterium Anaplasma phagocytophilum. Two tick species, the blacklegged tick(Ixodes scapularis) and western blacklegged tick(Ixodes pacificus), are known to carry the bacterium.
