Power banks are saviors when charging in power outlets is not possible and are increasingly accepted as important accessories in daily life. 2, record 13, English, - power%20bank

In the applications of the secondary explosive one always requires the use of a detonator and in some cases also a booster in order that detonation may be produced easily and reliably. A booster is usually a small, pressed, cast, or low density(loose-packed) charge of one of the more sensitive secondary explosives capable of being detonated readily by a detonator. It is used to reinforce the detonation wave from the detonator and thus deliver to the secondary explosive a more powerful detonation wave than is possible with a detonator alone. This makes possible the use of many relatively insensitive explosives that otherwise would have no direct application. 2, record 19, English, - booster

The matchlock constituted the first mechanical device for firing.(...) For this improvement(...) two modifications of the hand cannon were necessary : the addition of a pan to hold the priming powder, which replaced the match in setting off the powder charge inside the barrel, and the addition of the serpentine, holding the match and thus freeing the hand of the shooter or his aide. These original matchlocks did not as yet include the leverage system worked by a trigger and indeed did, not have true "locks". Instead, the serpentine was a simple S-shaped arm pivoted in its center, the lower end serving as a handle by which the shooter moved the device manually. 1, record 21, English, - match

"Colour" in the name "colour-glass condensate" refers to a type of charge that quarks and gluons carry as a result of the strong nuclear force. The word "glass" is borrowed from the term for silica and other materials that are disordered and act like solids on short time scales but liquids on long time scales. In the "gluon walls, "the gluons themselves are disordered and do not change their positions rapidly because of time dilation. Cloud chambers were first developed by Charles T. R. Wilson around 1911 for experiments on the formation of rain clouds. Wilson knew that water vapour condensed around ions, atoms which have become charged by gaining or losing electrons. However, an alpha particle, for example, which had an electric charge, would leave a trail of ions as it passed through a gas. If water vapour condensed on these ions, the track of the alpha particle would become visible as a line of water droplets. 2, record 28, English, - Wilson%20cloud%20chamber

There are two basic types of cloud chambers in use today; (1) the expansion chamber ... which depends upon expansion of the air, within the chamber, to cool it and thus create a supersaturated atmosphere, and (2) the continuous or diffusion type chamber ..., that creates a supersaturated atmosphere by diffusion of vapor from the warm upper region of the chamber to the cooled bottom of the chamber. In both types, electrically charged ions created by nuclear particles colliding with atoms within the chamber atmosphere, serve as nuclei of condensation. 5, record 28, English, - Wilson%20cloud%20chamber

A basic principle in self assembly is selective stickiness : if two molecular parts have complementary shapes and charge patterns, one part has a hollow where the other part has a bump, and one part has a positive charge where the other part has a negative charge, then they will tend to stick together in one particular way. By shaking these parts around, something which thermal noise does for us quite naturally if the parts are floating in solution, the parts will eventually, purely by chance, be brought together in just the right way and combine into a bigger part. This bigger part can combine in the same way with other parts, letting us gradually build a complex whole from molecular pieces by stirring them together and shaking. 3, record 33, English, - self%2Dassembly

The key to building electronic devices out of individual molecules is self assembly. 4, record 33, English, - self%2Dassembly
Record number: 33, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Historically, the idea of supramolecular interactions dates back to the famous metaphor of Emil Fischer (1894), who described a selective interaction of molecules as the lock and key principle. Today, supramolecular chemistry has by far surpassed its original focus. Molecular self-assemblies combine several features of covalent and non-covalent synthesis to make large and structurally well-defined assemblies of atoms. Single van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonds are weak relative to typical covalent bonds and comparable to thermal energies. Therefore, many of these weak non-covalent interactions are necessary in order to achieve molecular stability in self-assembled aggregates. In biology, there are many complex systems of nanoscale structures such as proteins and viruses which are formed by self-assembly. Living systems sum up many weak interactions between chemical entities to make large ones. 1, record 33, English, - self%2Dassembly

The word radiation is commonly used in several distinct although related senses. First, it is a term for the process by which energy is transferred and is able to exert an effect at a distance without the need for any physical connection between source and receiver. In this broad sense, radiation includes energy transfer both by electromagnetic waves (as in the case of gamma rays, ultra-violet rays or radio waves) and by energetic particles (such as alpha or beta particles emitted from nuclei in the process of radioactive decay). The more precise terms "electromagnetic radiation" and "particulate radiation" differentiate between these two phenomena. 4, record 45, English, - electromagnetic%20radiation

Winches all have motors that drive or power the drum that spools the wire. An electric winch uses an electric motor. This electric motor is powered by electricity, just like a drill motor. Current changes on opposing poles spin a magnet that powers the motor and turns the winch. Since a winch is so heavy-duty, the electric motor on a winch must be robust with a solid electrical system that can handle a lot of charge. The winch motor also needs to adjust to handle heavier loads. 4, record 49, English, - electric%20winch

In 1996, the Canadian Red Cross re-designed it to have a more holistic approach and renamed it Link to Health. It began as "Fun and Fitness" in the Toronto Region in 1991 and has grown and changed over the years to what it is today. Originally offered in nursing homes and senior's centers, Link to Health eventually moved to more accessible locations for seniors who live independently in their communities. The key feature of the tokamak is its central, hollow, donut shaped chamber. Huge electric currents pass through the coils surrounding the chamber and through the plasma inside it creating a powerful magnetic field that holds the plasma in place. The runaway neutrons have no charge and therefore not influenced by the strong magnetic field. Neutrons fly in straight paths and smash into the atoms of the reactor walls. Commencing in 1974 and produced by the Education and Cultural Affairs Division of the National Museum of Man in conjunction with the relevant research divisions, the Museum Kits were multi-media, thematic, learning packages which were loaned free of charge for two-week intervals to schools community groups, libraries, etc. Each "museum in a box" included artifacts, specimens and related interpretive material such as films, maps, fact sheets, slides and resource books. There were two types of kits-a small kit with limited artifacts and resource materials, usually in separate language versions and the larger, bilingual, more complex kits, with resources inserted according to the requirements of the borrowers. The kits were designed for the 11-14 age group and were to promote an understanding and appreciation for Canada's multicultural heritage as well as the functions and importance of human history museums within Canada. Catalogues of available kits were produced and circulated through the National Programs Division. They have been discontinued. 1, record 68, English, - museum%20in%20a%20box

Electric Arc Furnace Dust (EAF Dust) is the airborne dust generated in the steel manufacturing process when metal scrap is electrically melted. It is typically only about 1.5% of the output from a typical mini-mill, but creates an environmental problem which must be handled intelligently. The material is a calcium iron silicate with contaminants of heavy metals such as lead, zinc, cadmium, chromium and others. 4, record 72, English, - electric%20arc%20furnace%20dust

In a typical electric arc furnace(EAF) operation for melting iron-containing scrap, approximately one to two per cent of the charge is converted into dust which is collected in the baghouse. One current proteomic tool for visualizing and quantitating all proteins expressed in a ological system at a given time is two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DGE). As originally described by Patrick O’Farrell for analyzing Escherichia coli proteins in 1975, 2-DGE combines the electrophoretic separation of denatured proteins bysoelectric point charge differences in the first dimension with separation based on molecular size differences in the second dimension. The proteins, which can be detected using protein-specific stains, appear as constellations of spots in the 2-D space of the gel. Over the 20-year history of 2-DGE, numerous algorithms have been developed for comparing 2-DGE patterns and quantitatively analyzing protein abundance. 2, record 79, English, - two%2Ddimensional%20gel%20electrophoresis

In this text I will primarily be talking about the push and pull concepts of information. The web is(mostly) a pull medium : the user clicks links to weave an individual path through available sites and searches actively for information. A good metaphor for the web is a library where anyone can leave their own papers and books on shelves for others to pick up. Many traditional information purveyors have however been trying to implement push into webspace, since then they can also push advertising and so be able to charge sponsors. The increasing use of sponsor graphics and banners on sites with high hits is another expression of this. 2, record 82, English, - push%20and%20pull

A development cost charge is a tax on land. It is a tax that should have a clear relationship between the tax collected, the related expenditure, and the beneficiary of the service. The intent of the tax is to apportion new infrastructure costs between a local government and a proprietary owner. Futures trading benefits the grain industry in several ways. If primary elevator operators could not avoid the risk of price fluctuations by hedging, banks would charge them more interest on money borrowed to pay producers for grain. They would need wider profit margins, between the price paid to producers and their selling price, to cover the risk of price declines and the higher credit costs. Exporters would need wider profit margins on their sales to cover storage costs or possible price increases between sales and delivery. Chromons that are red, green, or blue have a charge of + 1/6, while the colorless chromon has a charge of-1/2. 1, record 89, English, - chromon
