The technical problems involved in gene transfer therapy make heart transplant surgery look easy. Theoretically, recombinant DNA(inserting strands of DNA where they don’t naturally occur) allows for gene transplantation. Realistically, it is extremely difficult. Researchers have yet to find a way to put a healthy gene into a human somatic cell. DNA is well protected within the cells. DNA writes codes for life, and life would change if DNA were altered. The cell views altered(mutant) DNA as foreign, just like the body views a donor heart. Just like the body has an immune system, the cell has defenses against mutant DNA. 2, record 5, English, - gene%20transplantation

5, record 5, Spanish, - trasplante%20de%20genes
