Many screw designs have been utilized over the years for the various extrusion processes and materials.... The best-known screws can be loosely separated into two categories-conventional screws and barrier screws. Conventional screws usually are single flighted designs with the flight lead(or flight pitch) equal to the screw's nominal diameter. This type is termed a square-pitched screw, and when no mixing devices are present, it usually is referred to as a metering screw.

CONT

The two basic approaches are used: the single metering or compression screw ...; and the barrier flight screw.

DEF

A payment of a regular pension or similar benefit for a specified number of years or for the lifetime of the beneficiary or the beneficiary’s spouse.

OBS

The term "pension" is... applied rather than "annuity" to the regular payments made under public pension plans where no contract has been entered into for the payment of a specific amount of annuity. Although the terms "pension" and "annuity" have become almost synonymous, "annuity" should more properly be reserved for the technical processes involved, namely a series of equal payments made at equidistant intervals.

DEF

OBS

... in 1894, the countries of Europe agreed to synchronize their watches(this means that they show the same time), and to use a unified indication of time. Since then, in continental Europe, with a few exceptions, you no longer have to correct your watch when you pass from one country to another; they all use the same time, which is referred to as Central European Time(CET).... During recent years, it has been decided to shift the time during the summer period. Thus, each year from spring(late March) to autumn, time used in Central Europe is the Central European Summer Time(CEST) which is equal to Central European Time plus 1 hour.

Inside an orbiting spacecraft a "microgravity" environment exists in which the acceleration of objects and persons relative to their surroundings is reduced to the level of micro g’s ...

OBS

Even in a gravity gradient attitude, accelerations caused by crew movements, equipment operations, and occasional thruster firings can disrupt the quiescent low-gravity environment and may affect microgravity science experiments. Accelerations at particular frequencies may interrupt one type of experiment but have no effect on others. These accelerations are measured at fractions of Earth's gravity; for instance, 10~ g is equal to 1/100, 000 of the gravity on Earth.

The buckwheat flower has no petals-the sexual parts, the ovary, three styles and eight stamens being enclosed in the petallike sepas. Four of the anthers bend out but turn their pollen inward. The other four turn their pollen outward(Knuth 1909, pp. 341-342). Some plants have flowers, referred to as the "thrum" type, with short styles and long filaments so the stamens extend above the styles. Other flowers, referred to as "pin" types, have long styles and short filaments so the stigma is avobe the anthers. Occasionally, the styles and stamens are at the same height. The long stamens and filaments are fully 3 mm; the shorter ones, about 2 mm. Although each plant bears flowers of only one form, the seeds from either form will produce plants having the dimorphic forms in about equal numbers. The thress styles lead to a single ovary with one ovule, so a flower can produce only one seed, which is about one-quarter inch long.
