HAVE NOTHING DO [14 records]

Record 1 2026-01-08

English

Subject field(s)
  • Social Security and Employment Insurance
CONT

Canadian benefit eligibility is a complex calculation based upon a variable entrance requirement (VER) in which benefit qualification and entitlements are determined by the local unemployment rate. In these circumstances, exhaustion can take place anywhere along the entitlement schedule from a minimum of 17 weeks to a maximum of 50 weeks under the UI [Unemployment Insurance] system. Under Employment Insurance, the range of weeks runs from 14 to 45 weeks.

OBS

Under the Act ]Unemployment Insurance Act]. the conditions of eligibility for benefit prescribed by section 19 "et seq" have nothing to do with the right of an insured to make a claim for benefit.

Subject field(s)
  • Statistical Graphs and Diagrams
CONT

Although some continuous variables follow a normal, or bell-shaped, distribution, many do not. Non-normal distributions may lack symmetry, may have extreme values, or may have a flatter or steeper "dome" than a typical bell. There is nothing inherently wrong with non-normal data; some traits simply do not follow a bell curve.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Diagrammes et graphiques (Statistique)
CONT

Egg colour has nothing to do with egg quality, flavour, nutritive value, cooking characteristics or shell thicknesses, it is a genetically-controlled trait... The breeds that lay white eggs have white ear tufts while those that lay brown eggs have red feathers and ear tufts.

French

Domaine(s)

Subject field(s)
  • Patents (Law)
  • Botany
CONT

Back in 1892 legislation was proposed to grant patent rights for plant inventions. This legislation was supported by many prominent individuals, even Thomas Edison who stated that "nothing that Congress could do to help farming would be of greater value and permanence than to give to the plant breeder the same status as the mechanical and chemical inventors now have through the law. "

CONT

Patent for Plant Inventions. In the case for a plant invention, any person who invents a new and distinct variety of plant which reproduces itself asexually may obtain a plant patent therefor.

OBS

The Plant Patent Act was passed by Congress on May 13, 1930 ... It was the first legislation anywhere in the world to grant patent rights to plant breeders and was enacted to "afford agriculture, so far as practicable, the same opportunity to participate in the benefits of the patent system as has been given to industry, and thus assist in placing agriculture on a basis of economic equality with industry."

  • Tort Law (common law)
CONT

The most commonly employed technique for determining causation-in-fact is the "but for" test, sometimes called the sine qua non test. It works like this : if the accident would not have occurred but for the defendant's negligence, then his conduct is a cause of the injury. Put another way, if the accident would have occurred just the same, whether or not the defendant acted, then his conduct is not a cause of the loss. Thus the act of the defendant must have made a difference. If his conduct had nothing to do with the loss, he escapes liability.

Defamatory words are statements that, in the eyes of a reasonable person, discredit the plaintiff. Speaking of the "reasonable man, "Canadian courts have said :"He is a person of normal intelligence who makes prudence a guide to his conduct. He does nothing that a prudent man would not do and does not omit to do anything a prudent man would do. "

OBS

OBS

American foulbrood affects the larval stage of the honey bee Apis mellifera and other Apis spp. [species], and occurs throughout the world. Paenibacillus larvae, the causative organism, is a bacterium that can produce over one billion spores in each infected larva.

OBS

The names "American foulbrood" and "European foulbrood" have nothing to do with the distribution of these two diseases. It is merely that an American, G. F. White, described one and Europeans described the other, both around 1906.

  • Magnetism
CONT

Technically the poles are called "north seeking" and "south seeking," because if the magnet were freely suspended, one end would seek to align in the northerly direction and the other towards the south. When used as a bar magnet, the north seeking pole is usually called the "red" pole and the south seeking one the "blue" pole. They are often painted accordingly.

CONT

Explain to the pupils that the two ends are called poles, the red is the north pole and the blue is the south pole and that these poles have nothing to do with the north and south pole of the globe.

CONT

(...) presentation of statistical data. In general, there are three ways to present organized data: 1. word statement, 2. statistical table, and 3. statistical chart. (...) when a large group of data is being presented, word statement presentation becomes inefficient and burdensome. In this case, statistical tables and charts are preferred.

OBS

Charts, in contradistinction to graphs, may be used to show relationships which have nothing to do with variables, i. e., with sequences or chain of events.

OBS

The term graph is the elliptical form of graphic presentation and graphic representation. Graph has a generic meaning which encompasses all graphical representations and a specific meaning limited to the line graph.

OBS

In practice, most authors tend to treat the terms graph and chart as perfect synonyms. In defining these same terms, however, they sense a difference but there is no consensus as to what the distinction is. As compared to the above OBS concerning the term graph, chart seems to refer more specifically to graphical representations made up of figures or symbols such as bars or columns. The following context clearly illustrates the problem: "All illustrations of line graphs and statistical charts (...) are taken substantially unchanged from various publications."
