HAY PELLETS [3 records]

Record 1 2021-08-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Animal Feed (Agric.)
CONT

Pellets, cubes and chopped hay can be consumed considerably faster per pound than grass hay. They are also better prepared for digestion and assimilation of calories.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Alimentation des animaux (Agric.)
CONT

Il arrive qu'on ait besoin de hacher le foin ou la paille à inclure dans la ration, par exemple, pour une ration totale mélangée. Le foin haché donne un mélange plus uniforme et moins facile à trier.

Record 2 2015-08-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Animal Husbandry
CONT

Most naturally raised animals are fed 100 per cent grain or a mix of grain, hay and grass, but cows, of course, don’t naturally eat the most common food handed to them-corn pellets(especially the kind with additives).

OBS

To be considered "natural" or "naturally raised," animals would not be able to receive vaccinations or medication, which would be difficult to accomplish as standard feed given usually contains vitamins, minerals, additives, medication and direct fed microbials.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Élevage des animaux
OBS

Record 3 2011-03-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Horse Husbandry
CONT

Timothy pellets can be used as a forage replacer or as a supplement to long-stemmed hay. Pelleted hay may be top dressed with oil to increase the fat content of the diet. It is also very useful as a medium for introduction of medications, vitamins, or supplements. Can easily be made into mash with addition of warm water for seniors or those with dentition or chewing problems.
