La reconstitution de cet accident a permis de déterminer que la vitesse excessive du véhicule était le facteur dominant. Toutefois, la remorque agricole n'avait pas de réflecteurs rouges conformes aux normes requises par l'article 240.2 du Code de la sécurité routière. Le test de visibilité effectué sur la remorque a déterminé que le point de perception était de 90 m. Le même test effectué avec la remorque équipée de réflecteurs rouges conformes a permis de démontrer qu'il n'y aurait pas eu d'incidence sur le résultat, car le point de perception possible était seulement à 5 m plus loin.
