There are four possible methods of postaerating treatment plant effluent. Two of these methods, diffused aeration and mechanical aeration, are essentially the same as those employed in biological treatment processes. The other methods, called cascade aeration and U-tube aeration, can be attractive alternatives. In cascade aeration, effluent is discharged over a series of steps or weirs in thin layers with the objective of maximizing turbulence, thereby increasing oxygen transfer. Cascade aeration is an attractive postaeration technique where sufficient head is available after secondary clarification. While U-tube aerators have not yet been employed in postaeration, they have been suggested as an attractive alternative to other postaeration methods.

Tetanus(lockjaw) is caused by neurotoxins produced by the bacteria Clostridium tetani, particularly in deep or closed wounds, such as puncture wounds, but may occur, due to intestinal infections. This highly fatal disease is a constant threat for all horses as the bacteria are widely distributed in soil and manure.... Clinical signs of tetanus in affected horses begin following an incubation period of 3 days to several weeks, but usually 1 to 2 weeks. Muscle spasms and stiff paralysis progressing from the head to the neck, front, and then hind legs occurs.... The horse may be unable to swallow, resulting in saliva dripping from the mouth and regurgitation of ingested food and water through the nose. Convulsions, muscle rigidity, sweating, and fever may follow.

Optical see-through head-mounted displays(OST-HMD) find myriads of applications from scientific visualization to defense applications, from medical visualization to engineering processes, and from training to entertainment. In mixed or augmented reality systems, OST-HMDs have been one of the basic vehicles for combining computer-generated virtual scene with the views of a real-world scene. Typically through an optical combiner, an OST-HMD maintains a direct view of the physical world and optically superimposes computer-generated images onto the real scene. Compared with a video see-through approach where the real-world views are captured through cameras, it has the advantage of introducing minimal degradation to the real world scene. Therefore an OST-HMD is preferred for applications where a non-blocked real-world view is critical.

Smart eyewear is defined as eyewear incorporating a near-to-eye display. As used herein, near-to-eye display means a display, device, or system, such as a retinal projector, virtual retinal display, visualization element, head-mounted display, heads-up display, or other near-to-eye system, typically worn on the head of a user that generates an image near the eye. In a smart eyewear configuration, a display device is often mounted adjacent to an edge of each of the wearer's eyes and an image is typically displayed in the center of each lens. The location of the displayed image, therefore, forces the wearer to gaze in a direction to view the image generated by the display. Typically positioned near the user's eye, the display is aligned to the central region of the user's field of view to allow review of the displayed information with little or no head movement. In another embodiment, the displayed image is aligned to a region other than the central region of the user's field of view.

Cinematic VR draws heavily from the film industry while VR draws from the games industry.

MOMO syndrome was named for the features associated with the syndrome including macrosomia(being larger than expected from birth), obesity, macrocephaly(having a large head size) and ocular(eye) abnormalities.
