Core policy[ :] This refers to the "core" designation within the Commercial Fisheries Licensing Policy for Eastern Canada — 1996. It limits participation and entry in the less-than-65-feet sector to individuals who meet certain criteria so that the total number of core fishers or participants in a fishery remains the same. To qualify as a member of the core group, a licence holder was required, as of December 20, 1995, to meet the following criteria : be the head of an enterprise; hold key licences; have an attachment to the fishery; and be dependent on the fishery. Qualified new entrants to a fishery may acquire core status only from existing participants. 2, record 4, English, - core%20policy

The man who became chief was the one who proved best qualified to ensure his group's survival. As the Amerindians usually lived scattered throughout the forest, this role often fell upon the male head of a family if the need was felt. This leadership was based on wisdom and experience, rather than authority. The chieftainship was also handed down from father to son, with the agreement of the other members of the group. 1, record 10, English, - chieftainship

Other life-science experiments use crew members as experimental subjects. One is a NASA "Autogenic Feedback" experiment, designed to investigate the extent to which prior training can help astronauts to use voluntary control to reduce the effects of space sickness. Discomfort and nausea can have serious effects on crew members’ effectiveness, especially during the first two days of a mission. Statistically, it seems to affect about 50 per cent of people selected for spaceflight. Three of the Spacelab 3 crew received pre-flight training in recognising and controlling the symptoms; a control group of two did not. All wear electrodes to record such parameters as heart and respiration rate, sweating, etc., plus accelerometers to monitor head and body movements : these seem to have a relationship to space sickness. 1, record 24, English, - autogenic%20feedback%20experiment
