Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Reasons for hoarding include fear of a future shortage and expectation of a future rise in the price of the goods or in the money hoarded. In monetary theory, hoarding is considered to be any part of savings which is not used for investment. Thus, hoarding is a leakage in the income stream, taking money out of circulation and reducing total income. The larger the proportion of income hoarded in the form of money, the more slowly money turns over. The velocity of money in circulation varies inversely with the rate of hoarding. 2, record 3, English, - hoarding

3, record 3, French, - th%C3%A9saurisation

Erich Fromm identified several character orientations found in Western society. The receptive character can only take and not give; the hoarding character, threatened by the outside world, can not share; the exploitative character satisfies desires through force and deviousness; and the marketing character-created by the impersonal nature of modern society-sees itself as a cog in a machine, or as a commodity to be bought or sold. 2, record 6, English, - receptive%20character
