The cosmic microwave background displays a uniformity of temperature, varying by just one part in a hundred thousand. This indicates that all regions have been in contact with one another some time in the past. However, when traced back to the big bang using Einstein's equations, these regions appear to have always been separated – outside of one another's past causal horizons, being more than a million light-years apart when the universe was only 400, 000 years old. In a scientific context the term nanometrology can be interpreted quite broadly and has traditionally been used to describe approaches used in manufacturing technology, where very precise measurements are the foundations of the engineering industry. In recent years nanometrology has broadened its horizons and it now appears to encompass measurement of species or events on a nano-scale, which is a key part of modern detection science. These could be the measurement of distances up to 100 nm, such as features on a surface, or analysis of the interaction of two biological molecules. In terms of the analysis of events on a nano-scale this could be the interaction of two molecules or biomolecules leading to a significant outcome. 4, record 15, English, - nanometrology

5, record 15, French, - nanom%C3%A9trologie

Parent material, in soil science, means the underlying geological material(generally bedrock or a superficial or drift deposit) in which soil horizons form. Soils typically get a great deal of structure and minerals from their parent material. Parent materials are made up of consolidated or unconsolidated mineral material that has undergone some degree of physical or chemical weathering.... Parent material is classified by its last means of transport. So material that was transported to a location by glacier, then deposited elsewhere by streams, that material is classified as stream transported parent material, or fluvial parent material. Glacial till refers to material dragged with a moving ice sheet. Because it is not transported with liquid water, the material is not sorted by size. 3, record 24, English, - parent%20material

6, record 24, French, - mat%C3%A9riau%20parental

The Government of Canada is helping young Canadians gain the work experience they need to get a good job. Under the Youth Employment Strategy, the federal government is building partnerships with the private sector to help Canada's young people bridge the gap between education and employment. The strategy includes funds for the creation of new youth employment opportunities. A crucial part of this strategy is the Science Horizons program, designed to help young people gain valuable work experience in the scientific and technological fields that are driving the new economy. (i) The ease with which gases and liquids penetrate or pass through a bulk mass of soil or a layer of soil. Because different soil horizons vary in permeability, the specific horizon should be designated.(ii) The property of a porous medium that relates to the ease with which gases or liquids can pass through it. 1, record 98, English, - soil%20permeability

1, record 98, French, - perm%C3%A9abilit%C3%A9%20du%20sol

They appear in early Mississippian horizons and had already reached and passed their time of major development by the end of the Carboniferous. There were snakelike astopods, Dolichosoma and Ophiderpeton; numerous nectridians, including "horned" forms such as Keraterpeton, and the elongate Urocordylus(...) 1, record 99, English, - Urocordylus

In this structural type the aggregates or groups are arranged in relatively thin horizontal plates, leaflets, or lenses.(...) Although it is most noticeable in the surface layers of virgin soils, platy structure may characterize the subsoil horizons as well. Although most structural features are usually a product of soil forming forces, the "platy" type is often inherited from the parent materials, especially when the latter have been laid down by water or ice. 1, record 100, English, - platy%20structure

1, record 100, French, - structure%20feuillet%C3%A9e
