A dihedral wing is producing equal lift on the port and the starboard wing in straight and level flight. If the starboard wing dips, it's vertical lift component will begin to increase and it's horizontal lift component will begin to decrease until the wing is parallel to the flow(trigonometry and the lift force components on your wing) and at the same time the vertical lift component on the port wing will decrease. This makes the starboard wing rise and the port wing dip until it reaches it's equilibrium position(hopefully, level and straight). 4, record 3, English, - starboard%20wing

The most obvious thing to do when trying to decipher the structural history of a formation is to describe it. One way of doing this is to measure the dip and strike. The dip is the amount a bed of rock is tipped from the horizontal. The strike is the direction which is ninety degrees from the dip, i. e. along the horizontal line on the bed. 4, record 4, English, - structural%20history

The angle that a structural surface, e. g. a bedding or fault plane, makes with the horizontal, measured in any random, vertical section, rather than perpendicular to the strike. It varies from nearly zero to nearly the true dip, depending on whether the random section is close to the direction of the strike or of the dip. 1, record 16, English, - apparent%20dip

... the dip or underlie of the reefs... varies at all angles between nearly horizontal and vertical... its angle is often so nearly identical with that of the latter, as to impart to the reefs the appearance of interstratified deposits. If it were not for the frequency of lateral branches-"leaders"-joining the main bodies at all angles, both at their hanging-and foot-walls, they would in reality have to be considered as "layers" or interbedded deposits; but, as it is, they represent in these cases so-called "layer-or bedded lodes. ... Garnier invented a rotatory extraction apparatus .... Rotary extractor, Garnier type. The latest model consists of a heavily tinned iron drum rotating around a horizontal axle. Four perforated metal partitions, rectangularly and horizontally arranged around the central axle, divide the interior into four compartments into which the flowers are charged through four manholes. While the whole system rotates slowly, the flower material moves, tumbles and dips into the solvent lying on the bottom of the extractor. The liquid seeps through the perforations and drips back to the bottom when one compartment is lifted out of the solvent in the continuous movement of the whole drum. 1, record 18, English, - rotatory%20extraction%20apparatus

The direction of the [induced magnetic] field [of buried conducting bodies] is most generally measured by the dip-angle method(...). The source loop is in the vertical plane, and the receiving loop is linked to an inclinometer which is used to measure the angle with the horizontal of the plane in which it lies when the voltage induced in it is a maximum.(...)
