A lumping method for estimating the properties or the behaviour of liquid and/or vapour hydrocarbon phases from data relative to a reference set consisting of hydrocarbon mixtures in a series of thermodynamic states resulting from determined conditions of production of an underground hydrocarbon reservoir, characterized in that it comprises :-grouping each one of said hydrocarbon mixtures into at least three constituents(V, I, H), none of these constituents corresponding to a particular selection of base components or pseudo-components that would be used for a detailed compositional description of the fluids, considering that the gas phases resulting from the separation under surface conditions of each one of the hydrocarbon mixtures are mixtures from which third constituent(H) is excluded, and that the oil phases resulting from the separation under surface conditions of each one of the hydrocarbon mixtures are mixtures from which first constituent(V) is excluded,-determining by material balance the compositions of the separation products comprising, for the gaseous products, at least the first and the second constituent(V, I) in variable proportions and, for the liquid products, at least the second and the third constituent(I, H) in variable proportions, and-determining the at least three-constituent composition of each hydrocarbon mixture of the reference set by combination of the products of the separation thereof in proportion to the amounts of each separation product. 1, record 10, English, - lumping

In 1992, Greenpeace initiated the development of Greenfreeze, an ozone and climate safe refrigeration technology. Greenfreeze uses a mixture of propane(R290) and isobutane(R60Oa), or isobutane as a pure gas, for the refrigerant, and cyclopentane for blowing the insulation foam... The energy efficiency of hydrocarbon refrigerators has proved to be as good as, or better than those cooled with CFCs or HFC-134a. Similarly, the efficiency of cyclopentane blown insulation foam compares favourably with foam blown with HCFC-14b. Greenfreeze refrigerators are technologically reliable. They use mineral oil for lubricant, and unlike the HFC-134a technology, present no great difficulties in servicing. 1, record 12, English, - greenfreeze%20refrigerator

Among the classes of mass-transport phenomena in liquids, thermal diffusion(the Soret effect) is... characterized by the existence of a spontaneous matter flux in an inhomogeneously heated fluid mixture, this flux tending to separate the constituents.... From a more industrial point of view, whenever multiconstituent liquids are submitted to long-lasting temperature gradients, they are liable to experience thermal diffusive flows, modifying the distribution of the species concentration. Among the cases where this effect has been emphasized, we can mention the elaboration of high technology materials(solidification of semiconductors), the production or purification of light metals... and the optimization of petroleum extraction(by modelling of the hydrocarbon distribution in the reservoirs). So, knowledge of quantitative values of the Soret coefficient(which is the parameter characteristic of the phenomenon) for a wide domain of materials, in various thermodynamic conditions and physical configurations is needed for the above-mentioned basic and applied purposes.... The experimental determination of Soret coefficients in binary mixtures, denoted ST, is obtained by measuring the steady concentration gradient produced by the imposition of a constant and uniform temperature gradient. This concentration gradient achieves a stationary state when thermal diffusion and interdiffusion(which tends to rehomogenize the mixture) exactly compensate each other. 1, record 15, English, - Soret%20coefficient
