Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Deoxyribonuclease(DNAse) agar actually has DNA in it. Deoxyribonuclease is an exoenzyme excreted from the cell which will break the DNA down into smaller molecules. There are 2 kinds of DNAse agar that can be used. 1) The first medium has no indicator, but is does require HCl(hydrochloric acid) reagent to be added after growth has occurred on the plate. Without DNAse enzyme, the HCl precipitates out the undestroyed DNA. The rest of the agar with the remaining DNA, which binds to HCl will have turned cloudy. Around the growth area, if the bacterium has made DNAse and destroyed the DNA, there will be clear zones seen. 2) DNAse agar with the indicator methyl green can be used. In this medium, when the DNA in the medium is hydrolyzed by the bacterial DNAse enzyme, the pieces of cut DNA release from binding to methyl green, and you will see a yellowish/orange zone around the growth area. OBJECTIVE : To identify the presence of the DNAse enzyme. 3, record 2, English, - deoxyribonucleic%20acid%20agar

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 3, French, - chlorhydrate

The prefixes "ortho-", "meta-" and "para-", along with their corresponding abbreviations ("o-", "m-" and "p-"), appear in italics and are ignored in alphabetizing. According to the actual chemical nomenclature rules in organic chemistry (in 2003), the numbers designating the positions of the disubstitution groups (1,2- for "ortho-", 1,3- for "meta-" and 1,4- for "para-") are to be preferred to the symbols "o-", "m-" and "p-".

3, record 41, French, - acidification

The salts of hydrochloric acid, known as chlorides, can, in most cases, be prepared by dissolving either the metal, its hydroxide, oxide, or carbonate in the acid; or by heating the metal in a current of chlorine, or by precipitation. The majority of the metallic chlorides are solids(stannic chloride, titanic chloride and antimony pentachloride are liquids) which readily volatilize on heating. Many are readily soluble in water, the chief exceptions being silver, chloride, mercurous chloride, cuprous chloride and palladious chloride which are insoluble in water, and thallous chloride and lead chloride which are only slightly soluble in cold water, but are readily soluble in hot water. 3, record 42, English, - metallic%20chloride

Chlorine induced corrosion is the most important corrosion process in power plants, firing waste, coal and/or biomass. Depending on the process, chlorine is present as HCl gas, as solid KCl and NaCl in ashes or as eutectic melts i.e. KCl-ZnCl2 in deposits of waste fired boilers. In the presence of HCl gas and solid chlorides, "active oxidation" is generally accepted as the major corrosion mechanism. Metal chlorides are formed by inward diffusion of chlorine to the metal/oxide interface, evaporating and subsequently oxidized to non-protective oxides and additional chlorine. 4, record 42, English, - metallic%20chloride

A packed tower scrubber removes soluble and noxious gases, and mists with droplet sizes greater than 5 µm, from gas streams. Contaminant gases, such as hydrochloric acid, sulphur dioxide and ammonia vapour, are made to flow through a bed packed with media. The media can be plastic, ceramic or stainless steel rings or saddles, designed to provide a high surface area yet allow a high throughput. A scrubbing liquor is pumped through the bed, intimately mixes with the gas stream and dissolves the contaminant gases. 2, record 45, English, - scrubbing%20liquid

[The acid hydrolysis of wood]. The "Natta process" uses hydrochloric acid as the catalyst. The raw material used is moistened with dilute hydrochloric acid and is fed continuously into the top of a vertically arranged reactor. Superheated steam at a temperature of 190° to 200°C is injected at the bottom of the reactor, passes through the material in a countercurrent stream, and leaves the digester at the top, taking the furfural with it. The condensate contains only a small amount of hydrochloric acid and this is neutralized before the furfural is purified. The process operates continuously, uses considerably less steam and acid than the sulfuric acid process described above, and gives furfural yields of 70% to 80% of the theoretical amount.... The process also permits the recovery of the acetic acid formed as a by-product. 1, record 71, English, - Natta%20process

Hydrolysis with Hydrogen Chloride Gas.... A variation of the use of concentrated hydrochloric acid combined with hydrogen chloride is the process of Hereng. Here, wood chips are impregnated with 30% hydrochloric acid in a mixer and then transferred by a conveyor into the reactor. Because the chips are not predried, the acid concentration in them is reduced to 20%. The reactor consists of a hexagonal upright vessel equipped with numerous inclined trays. The impregnated wood is moved from the top toward the bottom by means of a vibrator and thus the prehydrolysis is completed after 45 minutes. The acid, containing chiefly pentoses, is filtered off and part of it is returned to the mixer. In this way, the sugar concentration in the prehydrolyzate is increased to about 20% to 25%. In a second step, the material, which has again been mixed with 30% hydrochloric acid, is passed through the reactor and hydrogen chloride gas is injected at the bottom in a countercurrent. In this way, the acid concentration is increased to 40% to 41% or more. The hydrolyzed material is conveyed from the bottom of the reactor to a drying chamber and is dried there with anhydrous hydrogen chloride gas which has previously been passed through a calcium chloride solution. The hydrolyzed material, consisting of lignin and sugar, is extracted with water and the sugar solution is subjected to a posthydrolysis. 1, record 72, English, - Hereng%20process

"lacquer peel method".(...) "The oriented rock is polished with a grinding material to grain size 400 until there is a completely smooth surface. After thorough rinsing in water the polished surface is etched for 1 1/2 to 2 seconds in 33% diluted hydrochloric acid and then once more thoroughly rinsed in water.(...) The etched surface is now completely dried(...) and placed horizontally on plasticene with the polished surface up. As soon as the surface is more or less ’room dry’, acetone is carefully poured over the surface and continually squirted over the surface with a small pipette. The acetate sheet is immediately rolled on during this process.(...) The acetate sheet is pressed down with the finger and gently held down for about 5-10 minutes so that the peel can shrink. This shows itself in a slight waviness of the surface. The film is then carefully lifted off. 1, record 87, English, - lacquer%20peel%20method

1, record 87, French, - technique%20des%20pellicules
