HYDRODYNAMIC FORCE [4 records]

Record 1 2022-05-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Collaboration with the FAO
  • Commercial Fishing
CONT

The shape optimization approach of the cambered otter board has been performed by the integration of the neural network model and the multi-objective genetic algorithm... the excellent performance of the otter board is expressed by great lift and less drag force... The Bézier curve represented the cambered otter board as a simple structure with five control points... The hydrodynamic characteristics of [the] otter board models were calculated in a two-dimension computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analysis at an attack angle of 20 [degrees].

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (Physics)
  • River and Sea Navigation
CONT

hydrodynamic effect means the result of water in motion. On vessels of any size, but especially on large vessels, as the boat moves through the water the friction of the water on the bow and on the hull causes the water to create turbulence. This turbulence, as the force of the water moves toward the stern(back) of the boat, tends to pull floating objects into the side of the boat.

Record 3 2007-07-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance
CONT

The horizontal component of the resulting hydrodynamic pressure force is termed "fluid-displacement drag" and the vertical component, "fluid-displacement lift. "Additional fluid forces termed "fluid-spray thrust or drag" and "fluid-spray lift" are created on aircraft when some of this displaced runway fluid in the form of spray sub-sequently impinges on other parts of the aircraft such as the tires, landing gear, and flaps.

Record 4 2004-12-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Bearings and Bearing Systems (Mechanical Components)
  • Lubrication Technology
CONT

In a fluid dynamic bearing(FDB), a thin layer of oil or other lubricant is injected between the shaft and sleeve. The structure of the bearing features a rotating shaft, which generates a hydrodynamic force, causing the shaft to rotate. The non-contact construction of this bearing makes it particularly suited for improving rotational accuracy and enhancing quietness and robustness.

OBS

Fluid Bearings are used in high speed or high precision applications where ordinary ball bearings may cause noise, vibration or acoustics.
