Hydrodynamic instability of a fluid(such as the atmosphere) in which there exists a horizontal temperature gradient and hence a vertical shear in the flow. This instability results in a conversion of the available potential energy of the mean flow into the kinetic energy of the baroclinic disturbance. 2, record 3, English, - baroclinic%20instability

2, record 3, Spanish, - inestabilidad%20barocl%C3%ADnica

A related problem is viscous fingering, observed most conveniently at the interface of two liquids between two glass plates. For two miscible liquids, like gelatin and water, a DLA-like structure appears when one liquid invades the other.... This growth process is the result of a hydrodynamic instability between the liquids. As in DLA, any small "bump" on the interface will tend to grow predominantly at the tips because the pressure gradient, which drives the growth, is largest at the tips. 2, record 4, English, - viscous%20fingering
