HYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICANT [3 records]

Record 1 2004-12-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Bearings and Bearing Systems (Mechanical Components)
  • Lubrication Technology
CONT

In a fluid dynamic bearing(FDB), a thin layer of oil or other lubricant is injected between the shaft and sleeve. The structure of the bearing features a rotating shaft, which generates a hydrodynamic force, causing the shaft to rotate. The non-contact construction of this bearing makes it particularly suited for improving rotational accuracy and enhancing quietness and robustness.

OBS

Fluid Bearings are used in high speed or high precision applications where ordinary ball bearings may cause noise, vibration or acoustics.

Domaine(s)
  • Paliers, coussinets et roulements (Composants mécaniques)
  • Tribologie
CONT

La tige du vérin est guidée grâce à quatre paliers fluides placés en opposition de chaque côté du vérin.

Record 2 2000-11-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Black Products (Petroleum)
  • Servicing and Maintenance (Motor Vehicles and Bicycles)
DEF

Type of lubrication characterized by a thick lubricant film, the thickness of which is high when compared to the roughness of the contacting surfaces. [Definition standardized by ISO.]

OBS

In hydrodynamic lubrication, friction is low and the contacting surfaces completely separated. The lubricant principally acts through its viscosity.

OBS

hydrodynamic lubrication: term standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Produits noirs (Pétrole)
  • Entretien et réparation (Véhicules automobiles et bicyclettes)
DEF

OBS

lubrification hydrodynamique : terme normalisé par l'ISO.

Record 3 2000-10-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Servicing and Maintenance (Motor Vehicles and Bicycles)
  • Black Products (Petroleum)
DEF

Type of lubrication intermediate between hydrodynamic lurication and boundary lubrication, where the lubricant film is thick, but however not enough to ensure a complete separation of the surfaces. [Definition standardized by ISO. ]

OBS

In mixed lubrication, friction varies with the fraction of surface in contact: the higher the fraction of surface in contact, the higher the friction. The lubricant acts through its viscosity and its chemical activity.

OBS

mixed lubrication: term standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Entretien et réparation (Véhicules automobiles et bicyclettes)
  • Produits noirs (Pétrole)
DEF

OBS

lubrification mixte : terme normalisé par l'ISO.
