Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 2, French, - chlorhydrate

Electrolysis is the process by which ionic substances are broken down into simpler substances using electricity. During electrolysis, metals and gases may form at the electrodes. …To understand electrolysis, you need to know what an ionic substance is. Ionic substances form when a metal reacts with a non-metal. They contain charged particles called ions. For example, sodium chloride forms when sodium reacts with chlorine. It contains positively charged sodium ions and negatively charged chloride ions. Ionic substances can be broken down by electricity. … For electrolysis to work, the ions must be free to move. Ions are free to move when an ionic substance is dissolved in water or molten(melted). For example, if electricity is passed through copper chloride solution, the copper chloride is broken down to form copper metal and chlorine gas. … Here is what happens during electrolysis : Positively charged ions move to the negative electrode during electrolysis. They receive electrons and are reduced. Negatively charged ions move to the positive electrode during electrolysis. They lose electrons and are oxidised. … So the electrolysis of copper chloride solution produces copper at the negative electrode. But the electrolysis of sodium chloride solution produces hydrogen. 2, record 12, English, - copper%2Dchloride%20electrolysis

Tin is a metal which can combine with other chemicals to form compounds. When tin is combined with chemicals such as chlorine, sulfur, or oxygen, it is called an inorganic tin compound. Inorganic tin compounds are found in small amounts in the earth’s crust. They are present in toothpaste, perfumes, soaps, coloring agents, and dyes. Tin can also combine with carbon-containing materials to form organotin compounds. These compounds are used in making plastics, food packages, plastic pipes, pesticides, paints, wood preservatives, and rodent (rats and mice) repellents. There can be tin metal, as well as inorganic and organic tin compounds in the air, water, and soil near places where they are naturally present in the rocks, mined, manufactured, or used. 3, record 27, English, - inorganic%20tin%20compound

2, record 30, French, - carbonisage

Pyrohydrolysis is a lixiviant regeneration process in which metal chlorides obtained from leaching either primary or secondary raw materials can be thermally decomposed into metal oxides and hydrogen chloride. The separation of iron from zinc, lead and/or cadmium present as oxide, ferrite or silicate in both waste materials and ores through pyrohydrolysis is being investigated in both a tube furnace an a 100 mm diameter fluid bed. 1, record 41, English, - pyrohydrolysis

Hydrolysis with Hydrogen Chloride Gas.... A variation of the use of concentrated hydrochloric acid combined with hydrogen chloride is the process of Hereng. Here, wood chips are impregnated with 30% hydrochloric acid in a mixer and then transferred by a conveyor into the reactor. Because the chips are not predried, the acid concentration in them is reduced to 20%. The reactor consists of a hexagonal upright vessel equipped with numerous inclined trays. The impregnated wood is moved from the top toward the bottom by means of a vibrator and thus the prehydrolysis is completed after 45 minutes. The acid, containing chiefly pentoses, is filtered off and part of it is returned to the mixer. In this way, the sugar concentration in the prehydrolyzate is increased to about 20% to 25%. In a second step, the material, which has again been mixed with 30% hydrochloric acid, is passed through the reactor and hydrogen chloride gas is injected at the bottom in a countercurrent. In this way, the acid concentration is increased to 40% to 41% or more. The hydrolyzed material is conveyed from the bottom of the reactor to a drying chamber and is dried there with anhydrous hydrogen chloride gas which has previously been passed through a calcium chloride solution. The hydrolyzed material, consisting of lignin and sugar, is extracted with water and the sugar solution is subjected to a posthydrolysis. 1, record 43, English, - Hereng%20process

Hydrochlorination. Hydrogen chloride can react with a number of organic compounds by substitution. In the majority of cases, however, the substitution is with alcohols. The reaction in the case of methyl chloride is as follows : CH3OH + HCL [gives] CH3CH + H2O.... The addition of hydrogen chloride to unsaturated compounds to produce chlorinated hydrocarbons is of considerable importance industrially. 2, record 44, English, - hydrochlorination
