"Hypothalamic obesity" refers to excess weight gain that may follow from an injury to the hypothalamus, a brain region with many important functions. The hypothalamus affects energy intake, by regulating how much we eat, and energy expenditure, by regulating how much energy our bodies use. Damage to the hypothalamus disrupts the carefully coordinated balance between energy intake and expenditure, often leading to increased calorie intake and/or decreased calorie burning, and thereby to rapid weight gain. 1, record 1, English, - hypothalamic%20obesity

A variety of hormones are involved in appetite regulation including both episodic hormones, which are responsive to episodes of feeding, and tonic hormones, which are important regulators of energy storage over the longer term (e.g., insulin and leptin). Notable among the episodic appetite-regulating hormones is ghrelin, which plays a unique role in stimulating appetite and energy intake. 3, record 2, English, - appetite%20regulation

Most prostate cancer cells depend on hormones to grow. Hormones such as gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH) or luteinizing hormone releasing hormone(LHRH) are released from the hypothalamus gland in the brain. When these hormones are released, they promote the testicles to produce the male hormone, testosterone. Androgen Deprivation Therapy(ADT) deprives prostate cancer cells of the male hormones(known as androgens) that cancer cells require in order to grow. ADT is the most common therapy used in men with advanced prostate cancer. 3, record 10, English, - androgen%20deprivation%20therapy

3, record 10, French, - traitement%20antiandrog%C3%A9nique
