Processing of molten iron which, thereafter, exhibits small, well shaped spheroidal balls of graphite. Such processing usually consists in adding pure magnesium, magnesium alloys or binders to pig iron. The more commonly known processes are the following :"Pont-à-Mousson process(AMP) ": Magnesium is added by dipping an ingot of pure magnesium, coated with a refractory whose thickness matches with the process required; "G. Fischer process" : Pure magnesium is added by means of a special tilting device("converter") ;"plunger bell method" : The magnesium alloy is added to the metal using a plunger bell;"sandwich process" : The magnesium-containing compound is added by means of a recess in the bottom of the ladle; "treatment in the mould" :(Inmold) process(trade mark) The magnesium is added in mould cavities designed for the purpose. 1, record 2, English, - nodularizing%20treatment%20of%20graphite

Procédé de traitement des fontes à l'état liquide à la suite duquel les particules de graphite se présentent sous forme de petites sphères bien formées. Ce traitement consiste le plus souvent à additionner du magnésium pur, des alliages ou des agglomérés de magnésium à la fonte de base. Les procédés les plus connus sont les suivants : [procédé Pont-à-Mousson (AMP] : L'introduction de magnésium se fait par plongée d'un lingot de magnésium pur, revêtu d'un enduit réfractaire dont l'épaisseur est calculée en fonction du traitement désiré; [procédé G. Fischer] : Le magnésium pur est introduit à l'aide d'un appareillage spécial basculant [convertisseur]; [procédé à la cloche] : Dans ce procédé l'alliage ou l'aggloméré de magnésium est introduit au sein du métal à l'aide d'une cloche de plongée; [procédé sandwich] : L'introduction du produit du magnésium se fait dans un logement pratiqué au fond de la poche; [procédé de traitement dans le moule] : procédé [Inmold].
