English

Subject field(s)
  • Crude Oil and Petroleum Products
DEF

Interval of temperature common to two successive fractions [which] is expressed as the interval of temperature between the initial boiling point of the heavier fraction and the final boiling point of the lighter fraction. [Definition standardized by ISO. ]

OBS

overlap: term standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Pétroles bruts et dérivés
DEF

Intervalle de température commun à deux fractions successives [qui] s'exprime par l'intervalle de température entre le point initial de distillation de la fraction la plus lourde et le point final de distillation de la fraction la plus légère. [Définition normalisée par l'ISO.]

DEF

The temperature (corrected if required) recorded at the moment when the first drop of the condensate falls from the tip of the condenser during a distillation carried out in accordance with a standard method. [Definition standardized by ISO.]

OBS

initial boiling point : term standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie
  • Distillation du pétrole
  • Thermodynamique
DEF

Record 3 2002-10-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petroleum Distillation
  • Petrochemistry
DEF

Temperature range usually determined at atmospheric pressure in standard laboratory apparatus, over which boiling or distillation of an oil commences, or finishes.

DEF

Difference between initial boiling point temperature and end point temperature secured by the distillation test.

OBS

... the distillation range is only applicable to mixtures.

OBS

distillation range; boiling range: terms standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Distillation du pétrole

Record 4 2000-10-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petroleum Distillation
DEF

Interval of temperature separating the final boiling point of one fraction from the initial point of the following fraction in a distillation under standard conditions. [Definition standardized by ISO. ]

OBS

gap: term standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Distillation du pétrole
DEF

Intervalle de température séparant le point final d'une coupe du point initial de la coupe suivante dans une opération de distillation effectuée dans des conditions normalisées. [Définition normalisée par l'ISO.]

OBS

Record 5 1994-12-06

English

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
CONT

Saturated Liquid Temperature (Bubble Point). In the condenser, this is the temperature at which the last bit of vapor has condensed.

OBS

saturated liquid : If we place a given mass of liquid water with an initial temperature of 20 degrees C in a cylinder... and then add heat continuously, the water will undergo state and phase changes... the temperature of the liquid water will increase... until the temperature reaches 100 degrees C..., at which point the water starts to vaporize(the phenomenon known as boiling).... The water at the start of vaporization... is described as a saturated liquid and at the end of vaporization as a saturated vapor.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie analytique
CONT

Si l'on chauffe un corps pur [...] la température s'élève [...] jusqu'à la température de vaporisation, à laquelle la vapeur commence à apparaître [...]
