2, record 5, French, - photok%C3%A9ratectomie%20r%C3%A9fractive

Pyramid fire. This is the best of all campfires. Three or four logs about 3 ft. to 5 ft. long are laid side by side and across them another layer with, if you desire it, a third layer on top of these. On top of the top layer the starting fire is laid. This is built up finally like a small pyramid. This type of fire is lit at the top. the starter fire ignites the logs below with falling coals and so this fire burns down-wards. It radiates heat evenly all round, and requires no attention during the night. Also, because there is no falling in of the fire the risk of sparks spreading and starting a bushfire is greatly minimised. 1, record 12, English, - pyramid%20fire

1, record 12, French, - feu%20en%20pyramide

The batch-in-bin drying process involves using a bin as a batch dryer. A 3 to 4-foot deep layer of grain is placed in the bin and the fan and heater started. Typical drying air temperatures are 120 to 160F with airflow rates of 8 to 15 cfm/bushel. Drying begins at the floor and progresses upward. Grain at the floor of the bin becomes excessively dry while the top layer of the batch remains fairly wet. The grain is cooled in the bin after it is dried. Some batch-in-bin dryers hold the grain being dried in a layer near the roof. After the grain is dried it is dropped to the bin floor where it is cooled. As the grain is moved from the bin, the grain is mixed, and the average moisture content going into final storage should be low enough that mold growth will not be a problem. 2, record 16, English, - batch%20dryer

The main principles of wind-driven ocean circulation are as follows. 1. Wind stress causes transport of water in a thin Ekman surface layer. 2. If there is a curl to the wind stress, the Ekman layer transport will converge or diverge, causing downwelling or upwelling. 3. The downwelling or upwelling motions cause fluid columns to squash or stretch vertically, and this causes slow southward or northward flow due to conservation of potential vorticity. 4. The southward or northward flow is determined by the Sverdrup relationship, which links the N-S transport of water with the curl of the wind stress. In order to conserve mass, the water returns to its original position via a relatively thin boundary layer adjacent to the western edge of the basin. 3, record 19, English, - wind%2Ddriven%20oceanic%20circulation

The layering principle... means wearing several layers of clothing that can be removed or added as body temperatures and weather conditions change. Vigorous activity makes the body work harder and get hotter and the body tries to cool things down by perspiring to maintain its ideal temperature. To stay comfortable in a colder climate, the idea is to help the body maintain its normal temperature. Ideally this is achieved by wearing 3 layers of clothing, which you can shed or add, depending on how cold you feel. Readying the electrotype shell. The metal layer deposited on the mould is called a shell and is 2/10 to 4/10 of a mm in thickness(8/1000 to 16/1000 of an inch)... The thickness is in function of the amount of time given to the process of electrolysis. Once the desired thickness is achieved the shell must be detached from the mould. This is not always an easy matter. If the mould is made of wax it can be removed with boiling water... Plastic moulds are removed by pulling them off, and lead moulds must be cut away along the edges. Shells are fragile and as they are not rigid they are sometimes damaged when being removed from the mould. In any case, shells must be backed to make them hard enough to print with. Backing is usually done by pouring a molten alloy made of lead(97%) and antimony(3%) onto the back of the shell. 2, record 41, English, - electrotype%20shell

Cloud classification. A system... based on the system proposed by Luke Howard, a London pharmacist, in 1803. Howard divided clouds into three fundamental forms : stratus(sheet or layer clouds), cumulus(heaped-up clouds), and cirrus(fibrous or tufty clouds). The form nimbus was also added to indicate a rain cloud, but is now used only in composite forms, e. g. cumulonimbus.... Clouds are also classified into the height-based categories of low(up to 2 km), medium(2 km to 6 km), and high(above 6 km), with examples in each category being, respectively, cirrus, altocumulus, and stratus. The official International Classification scheme assigns a number to nine types of clouds. These are(ranging from high to low altitude types) :(0) cirrus,(1) cirrocumulus,(2) cirrostratus,(3) altocumulus,(4) altostratus,(5) nimbostratus,(6) stratocumulus,(7) stratus,(8) cumulus,(9) cumulonimbus. 3, record 42, English, - cloud%20classification

In the Sahara a rock stratum called the Continental Intercalary, which dates to the Cretaceous Period and which includes Nubian Sandstones, is the most important water-bearing layer. It extends over very large areas and reaches a thickness of more than 3, 000 feet; in Egypt and Algeria it provides artesian water. In The Sudan it sometimes lies directly on the Precambrian rock and contains underground water layers of local importance. Overlaying the Continental Intercalary but generally separated from it by a thick marine deposit is a layer called the Continental Terminal, which is the second-largest aquifer in this area. Both these layers contain "fossil" water _ that is to say, water that entered the layers when rainfall in and around the Sahara was much more abundant than today. Near the surface, aquifers are found in such recent deposits as alluvial deposits and sand dunes. 1, record 56, English, - Continental%20Terminal
