Record 2 1998-05-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Bones and Joints
DEF

Failure of the ends of a fractured bone to unite.

OBS

The term pseudarthrosis is often used synonymously with the term nonunion. A more limited and perhaps more accurate usage would limit use of the term pseudarthrosis to a variant of nonunion in which there is formation of dense scar tissue and a false joint with serum loculated in the cicatricial mass, the synovial pseudarthrosis. [From OTSUR, 1986, p. 80 and FRATH, 1980, p. 90. ]

French

Domaine(s)
  • Os et articulations
DEF
