Over time, "LP" came to refer to a "full-length album," as most releases featured an album’s worth of music. Track number and play time can vary somewhat, but is usually somewhere between 30 to 50 minutes and 10 to 12 tracks in total.

OBS

LP : This term may also designate a vinyl record designed to rotate at 33 revolutions per minute. In that case, "LP" is the abbreviation of "long-playing record. "

The conversion to a new digital master of original recordings from audio and video master tapes and audio master records (namely LP’s) in order to improve sound and image quality.

OBS

In the early days of audio CDs(mid-1980s), many music albums were converted from tapes that were equalized for the smaller dynamic audio range of the LP vinyl record and phonograph player. Some of these songs were later digitally remastered using the original tapes before equalization was applied.

Contrairement à une idée répandue, une lecture laser n'implique pas forcément des données numériques. Ainsi, le vidéodisque est-il lu par laser, mais les données sont stockées sous forme analogique en ce qui concerne les images. Le son est par contre souvent stocké sous forme numérique. [...] L'accès à l'image peut ainsi se faire par son numéro ou son groupe [chapitre]. Les disques sont généralement enregistrés sur les deux faces, avec une capacité d'une heure d'images vidéo par face pour un disque de 30 cm (mode CLV).

For microgroove recordings(16-2/3, 33-1/3 and 45 rpm), the recommended cutting stylus tip radius is. 00025 inch or less, and for coarse groove recordings(33-1/3 rpm transcriptions and 78 rpm) the recommended radius is. 0015 inch. You can see why a 78 played with an LP stylus sounds so bad! For coarse groove recording, the stylus was often mounted with a slight mechanical bias toward the center of the record. This ensured the thread of cut lacquer material or "chip" would be thrown toward the center of the disc thus avoiding fouling the stylus tip.

This applies to the cutting of the lacquer original in the phonograph record industry.
