After an initial ultrasound examination, the barbotage is usually performed when you are lying on your side. With a thin needle the whole injection area is first numbed. The calcific deposit is then approached with one or two needles and multiple punctures are performed. The procedure is highly precise and the needle is continuously watched on the ultrasound. Care is taken to minimize injury to the tendon. Sometimes water pressure is used through the needle to break and suck the calcium deposits in the area. Following the barbotage, an injection of steroid and local anesthetic is administered.

  • Toponymy
CONT

Names of Pan-Canadian significance are the names of geographical entities that, because of their importance, have two forms recognized by the federal government, one in English and the other in French. These entities include the provinces, the territories and their administrative subdivisions(except those with the same spelling in both languages), major rivers flowing to the sea and bodies of water or geographical features(rivers, mountains, islands, straits) which have in common the characteristic of covering a large area, lying in more than one province or territory or extending beyond Canada's border.

OBS

Some of these names are used in the specific of Parks Canada toponyms, such as "Prince Edward Island" in "Prince Edward Island National Park" (P.E.I.), "Great Slave Lake" in "East Arm of Great Slave Lake Proposed National Park" (N.W.T.), and "Saguenay River" and "St. Lawrence River" in "Saguenay St. Lawrence Marine Park" (Que.).

Pan-Canadian names should be written in both official languages on bilingual maps and in appropriate language on French and English versions of a map and a narrative form.

CONT

The ring enclosed by the 12-foot and the 8-foot circles (called "outer ring") is blue and the one enclosed by the 4-foot and the 2-foot circles (called "inner ring" or "inside ring"), red, which leaves uncolored the ring enclosed by the 8-foot and the 4-foot circles (called "middle ring") and the inside of the 2-foot circle (called "tee" or "button"), giving them a white appearance. Seen from above, the house appears as a series of three rings, blue, white and red around a white button.

OBS

The scoring side receives 1 point for each stone inside the house that is not canceled by reason of an opponent's stone lying closer to the center, the house being the designation given to the "target, "embracing the entire area inside the outer ring.

The name sounds romantic and oddly soothing: meltemi. But the reality is that this dry wind blowing from the north can sweep across Greek waters, swamping small craft, challenging ferries, and shutting down hydrofoils. It also can churn the waters, making them dangerous for swimmers, and blow sand at sunbathers on north-facing beaches.

CONT

We are on Aegean cost of Turkey and we profit from these exceptional weather conditions; like 6 months of blue sky, warm sun, a climate without dampness and the good wind called Meltemi.

CONT

The Meltemi wind was known by the old Greeks as the Etesian northern winds, and results from a high pressure system(>1025) lying over the Balkan/Hungary area and a relatively low pressure(<1010) system over Turkey.

OBS

The old name of the Meltemia was the Etesian winds. Mythologically, they are under the control of Boreas, the god of the North Winds.

OBS

The Etesian or Meltemi (Turkish name) is an extension of a monsoon. It is strongest in the afternoon and weakens during the night.

OBS

etesian wind: Prevailing northerly wind in summer in the eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea.

DEF

The result of the process by which moist air on the windward side of a mountain rises and cools, causing precipitation and leaving the leeward side of the mountain dry.

CONT

Large mountain masses, lying across the direction of the prevailing northwest winds and west of the divide, generate precipitation-shadow areas, the result being higher snowlines in the shadow area.... Where low passes occur, the precipitation-shadow effect is drastically reduced; moist maritime air masses, therefore, can penetrate east of the main divide, resulting in markedly lower snowlines than in the shadow areas.

CONT

Dramatic climate variation caused by elevation, rainshadow effects and latitude create a complex, diverse pattern of vegetation ranging from grasslands and alpine meadows to towering forests of evergreens.

Town-Country Symbiosis in Calcutta. Historically, the city's eastward expansion halted west of a marginal zone of low lying marshlands, variously known as Dhapa, East Calcutta, or the area of the salt water lakes. Here a symbiotic, creative relationship exists between town and country. With the participation of the rural inhabitants, much of the solid trash, liquid sewage, and polluted air generated by the metropolis of over ten million inhabitants is recycled into organic nutrients, fresh water, and clean air. The system reduces urban waste, creates a daily supply of fresh fish and green vegetables for Calcutta's kitchens, and generates employment and revenue for East Calcutta's thirty-odd villages.
