A test used to diagnose benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) that consists of a series of head, neck, and body movements that reproduce the vertigo sensation.

CONT

The Dix-Hallpike test is typically performed in a doctor's office. The doctor will ask you to sit upright on an exam table with your legs stretched out in front of you and your head turned to one side. They will then ask you to lower your head and torso back so that you end up lying with your head stretched off the edge of the exam table, turned with one ear down at a 45-degree angle. If there are misplaced calcium deposits(also called canaliths) in the posterior canal of your inner ear, this will trigger vertigo symptoms.

OBS

Benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo. The Dix-Hallpike maneuver is the gold standard test used to diagnose BPPV, which is crucial in confirming posterior canal BPPV.

La planche abdominale est un exercice efficace et facile à faire chez soi. Pour ce faire, il suffit de placer une grande serviette au sol et de se coucher à plat ventre. Placez-vous de façon semblable à une pompe, c'est-à-dire, les jambes droites, les pieds légèrement écartés, et appuyez-vous sur vos avant-bras plutôt que sur vos mains. Gardez cette position le plus longtemps possible, au moins 15 à 20 secondes, et répétez trois fois. Cet exercice raffermit les muscles qui supportent la colonne et les organes internes, soit les abdominaux, les obliques, les transversaux et les lombaires.

Le premier exercice est la planche abdominale. Réalisé en isométrie, c’est-à-dire en maintenant une position statique pour un temps donné, cet exercice permet le renforcement des muscles de la ceinture abdominale en plus d’aider au développement de l’endurance musculaire au niveau lombaire.

A test for sacroiliac involvement. With the patient lying at the edge of the table, the leg and thigh closest to the edge are hyperextended over the side of the table by lowering toward the floor. The other leg is held in a knee chest position by the patient in order to fix the pelvis. If the sacroiliac joint is the origin of the patient's back pain, the maneuver will elicit pain in the joint on the hyperextended side.

There's an old-fashioned position called "Walcher's Position" that was supposed to widen the pelvic inlet and allow borderline CPD [cephalopelvic] babies to engage. The idea was to get the mom lying on her back with her hips brought forward to the edge and her legs supported but almost dangling. Apparently this creates a significant arch in the back and changes various pelvic diameters, sometimes for the better.

In infantile spasms(salaam seizures), a child lying on his back suddenly raises and bends the arms, bends the neck and upper body forward, and straightens the legs. These spasms last for only a few seconds, but they may recur many times a day. They usually occur in children younger than 3 years.

Infantile spasms has been known by many names over the years, including salaam attacks, salaam convulsions, generalized flexion epilepsy syndrome, Blitz-Nick-Salaam-Krämpfe, eclampsia nutans, flexion spasm, infantile spastic epilepsy, jackknife convulsion syndrome, jackknife spasm, massive myoclonia syndrome, and nodding spasms. Infantile spasms is now the preferred term, but West syndrome is often used synonymously. A more general term, "epileptic spasms," includes infantile spasms as well as clinically similar seizures that occur in older patients.

Spasme infantile ou tic de Salaam (Syndrome de West). Cette épilepsie débute le plus souvent à l'âge de 5 à 7 mois ou, très rarement, pendant la 2ème ou la 3ème année de vie. Lors des crises typiques de cette maladie, le nourrisson est atteint de spasmes brusques pendant 2 à 3 secondes et projette ses bras vers l'avant ou le côté, ce qui rappelle la façon islamique de saluer («salaam» signifiant salut en arabe). Si la tête et la nuque seulement sont concernées par les secousses, on parle de tics et, si les crises traversent tout le corps du nourrisson de façon saccadée, on parle de spasmes.

This carry is used to drag a casualty who is either lying on their back or in a sitting position. Ease your hands under the casualty's shoulders and grasp the clothing on each side, supporting the head between your forearms. Drag the casualty backward only as far as necessary for his/her safety. But be careful, make sure not to choke the casualties when pulling on their clothing.

They continually dip into the boiling water at the bottom of the apparatus and the flowers are rapidly exhausted.

... Garnier invented a rotatory extraction apparatus.... Rotary extractor, Garnier type. The latest model consists of a heavily tinned iron drum rotating around a horizontal axle. Four perforated metal partitions, rectangularly and horizontally arranged around the central axle, divide the interior into four compartments into which the flowers are charged through four manholes. While the whole system rotates slowly, the flower material moves, tumbles and dips into the solvent lying on the bottom of the extractor. The liquid seeps through the perforations and drips back to the bottom when one compartment is lifted out of the solvent in the continuous movement of the whole drum.
