The Oshawa Railway Company was born in 1895, and effectively died on May 2, 1964 when the line was 100% dieselized by the CNR, however, power was not shut off until July 2, 1964. The OR was built, as most railways were, to provide both freight and passenger service. In the case of the OR, its operation was confined to the City of Oshawa even though they operated a number of passenger cars that would have been more suited to interurban operation. The main passenger line ran in a north-south direction on Simcoe Street, from Ross’ Corners down to Lakeview Park on the shores of Lake Ontario. When passenger service ended in 1940, several cars were re-distributed among other Canadian National Electric Railway lines where they saw many more years of use.

The main goals of the conference were to share views and best practices, and to raise the awareness of the importance of literacy within the field of criminal justice. 800 delegates from 18 countries, mainly front line correctional educators, attended the Conference.

La conférence internationale Alphabétisation 2000 : Vers la réinsertion tenue à Ottawa du 30 avril au 3 mai 2000 a connu un vif succès. There are several types of partial malfunctions and actions for each. If you have a semi-inversion, squid, cigarette roll or complete inversion with damage to the canopy or suspension lines, you must activate your reserve parachute. If you have a compare inversion with no damage to the canopy or suspension lines, do not activate your reserve parachute. If you have damaged suspension lines, blown section or gore, you must compare your rate of descent with your fellow jumpers. If you are falling faster than your fellow jumpers, you will activate your reserve parachute. If you are not falling faster than your fellow jumpers, you will activate your reserve parachute. If you are not falling faster, maintain what you have.

Partial malfunctions occur when the parachute deploys, but does not work properly. This creates a situation that does not allow you to land safely. Canopies that partially malfunction do not look "good" and tend to move violently. The following conditions may cause a partial malfunction :line over(a line goes over the canopy instead of straight down to the harness), entangled or broken lines, and holes, burns and/or rips in the canopy. The exact procedure to follow varies by drop zone, but genrally you will cut away the main canopy and open the reserve parachute.

Cornices may be classified into two main divisions. The open cornice consists of exposed rafter tails and the closed type has the rafter tails enclosed.... Figure 1-7 shows a section of an open cornice. The lookout rafters are made of dressed stock, generally the size of the common rafter. They should extend approximately the same distance above the plate that they project beyond the building line so that they may be firmly spiked to the sides of the common rafters. The part of the lookout rafter that is exposed to view is, in many cases, cut to some ornamental curve at the bottom and to a plumb cut at its end so as to provide a surface on which a hanging gutter may be attached. A fascia board is sometimes nailed to the plumb cut of the rafters to form a solid base for the gutter. The lookout rafters sometimes extend beyond the building as much as 3 feet and are supported by being spiked to the sides of the common rafters.

Do not confuse with the closely-related term "rafter tail," which designates the part of a rafter which overhangs the wall.
