Since 1992, the French Institute of Youth and Community Education(INJEP) is entrusted with the responsibility to implement the different activities. Its origins lie in the age of sail. The mainbrace was the largest rigging on a sailing vessel and was used to control the angle of the yard that held the main sail.... Splicing a mainbrace was already one of the most difficult repairs on a ship, even without the added pressure of doing it speedily. During battle it was incredibly dangerous. Successfully splicing a mainbrace was rewarded with an extra ration of rum. 1, record 21, French, - %C3%A9pissez%20le%20cordage%20principal

In 1991, in order to publicize Japan's regime of enforced prostitution during the Second World War, activists started to collect data about the women victims of sexual slavery. After 50 years of silence, women survivors, in their 70s and 80s, came forward to demand justice and redress. One of the main outcomes of this lengthy and sustained documentation work was the Women's International War Crimes Tribunal on Japanese Military Sexual Slavery. The Tokyo Tribunal, as it came to be called, was held in December 2000 in Tokyo. The Tribunal was attended by 70 victims and more than 1100 participants. The final judgment was passed in December 2001, at a Women'sInternational Tribunal held in The Hague, Netherlands. 1, record 32, English, - Women%27s%20International%20War%20Crimes%20Tribunal%20on%20Japanese%20Military%20Sexual%20Slavery

The UNESCO Associated Schools Project(ASP) is a network of schools throughout the world committed to the ideals of UNESCO. Launched in 1953, the ASP promotes education for international understanding in order to prepare children and young people to meet the pressing challenges facing humanity within the context of the planet's resources. The main emphasis of the ASP is on integrating international elements into the regular curriculum, rather than to treat them as separate subjects. 1, record 37, English, - UNESCO%20Associated%20Schools%20Project

1, record 37, French, - Syst%C3%A8me%20des%20%C3%89coles%20Associ%C3%A9es%20de%20l%27UNESCO

There are four main types of pontic : a fixed bridge in which the pontic is held between healthy teeth on both sides and can only be removed by a dental specialist, a partial denture in which the pontic is held by clasps that attach to nearby teeth and is able to be removed for daily cleaning, complete dentures or a set of false teeth, and dental implants which are a small metal post placed into one's jawbone in order to support either a fixed bridge or complete dentures. 1, record 39, English, - pontic

The main principles of wind-driven ocean circulation are as follows. 1. Wind stress causes transport of water in a thin Ekman surface layer. 2. If there is a curl to the wind stress, the Ekman layer transport will converge or diverge, causing downwelling or upwelling. 3. The downwelling or upwelling motions cause fluid columns to squash or stretch vertically, and this causes slow southward or northward flow due to conservation of potential vorticity. 4. The southward or northward flow is determined by the Sverdrup relationship, which links the N-S transport of water with the curl of the wind stress. In order to conserve mass, the water returns to its original position via a relatively thin boundary layer adjacent to the western edge of the basin. 3, record 41, English, - wind%2Ddriven%20oceanic%20circulation

Surfacing is a term used to describe processes of depositing metal on surfaces of tools and machine parts in order to increase their dimensional sizes or to obtain some specific mechanical property.... The two main categories of surfacing are known as hardfacing and metallizing. Hardfacing is a fusion technique and includes processes which are designed to produce hard, tough overlays to resist severe abrasion, corrosion, and impact loads. Metallizing is a spray coating procedure where finely divided particles of metal are deposited on surfaces where metal has worn away or where it is necessary to build up certain contours. Hardfacing is actually a fusion weld process in which a special hardfacing rod, wire, or electrode is intermixed with the base metal. 1, record 64, English, - hardfacing

What you need in order to access on-line music distribution services : To get to the Internet Underground Music Archive(IUMA) RockNet, Kaleidospace and metaverse. com, you’ll be best off with full Internet access, and a sound card that gives your computer audio-capability, unless you own a Macintosh, which already has sound capacity built in. If you have full Internet access, connect to the World Wide Web(WWW). The quickest way to each service is to use your favorite WWW browser. With the more-powerful Mosaic browser, you can listen to the music on-line, but you need a very powerful computer. Point you browser at the following Universal Resource Locators(URL) : IUMA, RockNet, Kaleisdospace, metaverse. com. The home page of each site usually has a how-to guide. If your system doesn’t allow WWW access, but lets you use gopher(like Concordia University's Pavo system), go to your main command prompt, and type in gopher URI. for site. Once at the site, you will have to download the sound files to your Internet system, or directly to your PC(assuming you use a terminal server.) 1, record 68, English, - on%2Dline%20music

Joy presently offer both chain ripper miners and the rotary drum head-type miners introduced in 1968. However, the rotary drum head machines are proving to be the more popular and look to be superseding the chain ripper models produced by Joy. In operation the chain ripper machine works as follows. The machine is trammed forward into position then, while the main chassis of the machine remains stationary, the cutting head moves forward, sumping into the coal at the bottom of the face. The rotation of the chains carries the broken coal back over the head and deposits it on to the chain conveyor which then moves the coal to the rear end of the machine. When the sumping operation is complete, the head travels upwards towards the top of the seam, breaking out the coal as it moves.
