The auxiliary power unit, or APU, in the Boeing 727 is a small turbine engine mounted between the main wheel wells.... The MLG [main landing gear] retracts inwards into the fuselage wheel well. Each MLG has two doors. The outboard door is rigidly attached at the strut. The inboard door operates by mechanical linkage to the strut and is held in up position by two uplock cylinders. This uplock is released when landing gear lever is placed in down position by hydraulic pressure, or by nitrogen pressure in emergency. The MLG is held, while airborne, in retracted position by hydraulic pressure in the actuator and by the inboard door mechanical uplock, if pressure drops. As the gear is extended, an internal lock in the actuator automatically locks it in fully extended positions.

A type of centrifugal fan where the air moves out of the fan perpendicular to the edge or end of the blade. The fan blades are straight and their axes perpendicular to the axis of rotation.

Radial blade fans... are generally narrower than other types of centrifugal fans. Consequently, they require a larger diameter wheel for a given capacity. This increases the cost and is the main reason why they are not used for air conditioning duty. The radial blade fan is well suited for handling low volumes at relatively high static pressures and for material handling.

Aileron control is supplemented by the flight spoilers which are controlled by the spoiler mixer. The spoiler mixer senses aileron movement and automatically provides the correct amount of spoiler deflection.

There are two lateral control mixers, one located in each main gear wheel well. The mixers allow the spoiler system to be operated by the speedbrake control lever, by the aileron control wheels, or by both simultaneously.... Each mixer consists of a bracket; a shaft supporting the aileron input drum, aileron output drum, and a spoiler cam; two cam follower arms; two spoiler sectors; and connecting links, cranks, and pushrods.
