Il y a aussi souvent des vents forts lorsque l'air froid s'engouffre dans le fjord du Saguenay, mais il n'est peut-être pas approprié de les qualifier d'«outflow winds» car il ne s'agit que d'une accélération locale dans la circulation générale des vents du Nord-Ouest. Par contre, les vents de Nord-Est dans la vallée du St-Laurent pourraient être classifiés ainsi.

Dans le cas où le vent de terre s'écoule le long d'un fjord, on pourra, par définition, parler de vent de fjords, donc cela s'applique, par exemple, pour Howe Sound et Douglas Channel, tous deux en Colombie-Britannique ainsi que pour le Saguenay, au Québec, où de tels vents se produisent assez souvent dans les cas d'advection froide du nord-ouest. Par contre, on ne parlera pas de vent de fjords le long du Columbia, en Colombie-Britannique.

Assateague. Chincoteague or Assateague Ponies living in the islands of Chincoteague and Assateague, off the coast of Virginia, are some of the last wild stock in the world. Most of the 200 or so ponies live on Assateague, a national park, separated from the mainland by dramatic storms in 1933.

Because the Chincoteague Pony is a hybrid whose breeding program is largely left to natural selection, conformational traits may vary among individuals. Most ponies tend to resemble the Welsh or Arabian breeds, although Mustang blood is obvious in others.

The concept of building strategically located "transshipment" ports also has potential. Such facilities would transfer grain from large ocean bulk carrier to small coasters that could serve shallow receiving ports. Potential locations for such transshipment ports include the Caribbean Sea, the Mediterranean, Singapore, Hong Kong, and other ports on the coast of Mainland China.
