The transduction of two genes by one phage into the same recipient cell is called cotransduction. Cotransduction frequencies can be used for fine mapping of genes. The cotransduction of markers on opposite ends of the map derived from conjugation is part of the evidence that most bacterial chromosomes are actually circular. 1, record 1, English, - cotransduction

The molar fractions of guanine plus cytosine(GC) in DNA were determined for 36 yeast artificial chromosomes(YACs) which almost completely cover human chromosome band Xq28, a terminal reverse band, corresponding to about 8 Mb of DNA. This allowed the construction of the most complete compositional map to date of a chromosomal band... 1, record 3, English, - reverse%20band

1, record 3, French, - bande%20r%C3%A9verse

Chromosome 5B of bread wheat is known to carry two major genes giving rise to genetic disorders. Nel for hybrid necrosis and Vg for winter variegation. Additionally, in many european winter wheat varieties this chromosome is represented in a translocated form, with 5BL-7BL, 5BL-7BS chromosomes rather than the normal 5B and 7B forms of the standard variety Chinese Spring. Genetic analysis has been carried out to map these genes and the translocation break point, and to investigate their pleiotropic effects or those of linked quantitative trait loci(qtl) for economically important characters... from an abstract found on Dialog. 2, record 5, English, - standard%20variety

In a chromosomal map, genes or other identifiable DNA fragments are assigned to their respective chromosomes, with distances measured in base pairs. These markers can be physically associated with particular bands(identified by cytogenetic staining) primarily by in situ hybridization, a technique that involves tagging the DNA marker with an observable label(e. g.) one that fluorescesces or is radioactive). The location of the labeled probe can be detected after its binds to its complementary DNA strand in an intact chromosome. 1, record 6, English, - chromosomal%20map
