The Global Assessment of Human Induced Soil Degradation(GLASOD) was conducted by the International Soil Reference and Information Centre(ISRIC) at Wageningen, The Netherlands, as commissioned by the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP). Spatial Archive and Interchange Format(SAIF, pronounced safe) is a Canadian geomatics standard for the exchange of geographic data. The underlying model itself is devoid of geographic meaning; rather it deals with fundamental concepts from mathematics and computer science. This project was initiated as part of Canada's contribution to the International Hydrological Decade(1965 to 1974). Although publication of this map series was suspended in the mid-seventies and gaps remain to be filled for some coverage areas, what has been created for this series thus far should prove useful in some aspects of glacier research. The Gamma filter performs gamma map filtering. Gamma filtering is primarily used on radar data to remove high frequency noise(speckle) while preserving high frequency features(edges). The Gamma Map filter was first proposed by Kuan.... Lopes modified the Kuan Map filter by assuming a gamma distributed scene and setting up two thresholds. The gamma filter size ranges from 1 to 11. Different filter sizes will greatly affect the quality of processed images. If the filter is too small, the noise filtering algorithm is not effective. If the filter is too large, subtle details of the image will be lost in the filtering process. A 7x7 filter usually gives the best results.... The GAMMA filter performs spatial filtering on each individual pixel in an image using the grey level values in a square window surrounding each pixel. The dimensions of the filter must be odd, and can be from 3x3 to 11x11 pixels.

One of the most common types of measurement to map using the choropleth technique is the density value. This gives an average value of the variable per unit area for each enumeration area. Magnetic bubble memory testers are used to examine bubble memory systems. Testers vary from unit to unit and in their ability to test memory devices of various capacities. Units can accommodate different memory architectures including serial, major/minor loop, block replicate, and even/odd configurations. They may offer capabilities for diagnostics testing(which isolates and defines design problems), device evaluation testing, and parallel functional testing. A computer may provide the central control and data collection functions for the magnetic bubble memory tester. The purpose of the loop status memory is to maintain a bit map of defective minor loops as they occur so that bubbles will be written into bad loops in later operations. This technique of maintaining minor loop status reduces test times.
