In its most basic form, journey mapping starts by compiling a series of user actions into a timeline. Next, the timeline is fleshed out with user thoughts and emotions in order to create a narrative. This narrative is condensed and polished, ultimately leading to a visualization.

The Canadian Lightning Detection Network(CLDN) helps meteorologists and scientists detect and monitor thunderstorms at an early stage in their development. Eighty-three sensors are set up across the country forming the Canadian portion of a North American network which is the largest of its kind in the world. The CLDN is able to detect more than 100 000 lightning flashes an hour. Within 40 seconds, the sensors determine the stregnth and location of lightning, send the information to Environment Canada's weather centres and then map out the information on a computer screen.

ScanSAR Mode. ScanSAR imagery is generated with a combination of single beams covering adjoining swaths. This provides the largest swath coverage available in RADARSAT-2 products. However, the increased coverage is obtained at the expense of spatial resolution. ScanSAR imaging mode will be available in co-polarization, cross-polarization and dual-polarization.

SAR acquisitions can be carried out in different modes according to the users requirements. The most popular Stripmap mode allows to map contiguous strips with reasonable resolution.
