A journey map is a visualization of the process that a person goes through in order to accomplish a goal. In its most basic form, journey mapping starts by compiling a series of user actions into a timeline. Next, the timeline is fleshed out with user thoughts and emotions in order to create a narrative. This narrative is condensed and polished, ultimately leading to a visualization.

A journey map has a specific actor (a singular customer or user of a product) and specific scenario (of a product or service), while an experience map is broader on both accounts — a generic human undergoing a general human experience. The experience map is agnostic of a specific business or product. It [is] used for understanding a general human behavior; in contrast, a customer journey map is specific and focused on a particular business or product.

A contig is a chromosome map showing the locations of those regions of a chromosome where contiguous DNA segments overlap. Contig maps are important because they provide the ability to study a complete, and often large, segment of the genome by examining a series of overlapping clones which then provide an unbroken succession of information about that region.

This project was initiated as part of Canada's contribution to the International Hydrological Decade(1965 to 1974). Although publication of this map series was suspended in the mid-seventies and gaps remain to be filled for some coverage areas, what has been created for this series thus far should prove useful in some aspects of glacier research. These map plates display glaciers and glacier regions. Glaciers are denoted by a numbering system, which is keyed to Canadian glacier inventory data. Perennial ice and snow, hydrological units and major drainage divides are also denoted.

The Goodyear Aircraft Corporation developed ATRAN(Automatic Terrain Recognition And Navigation), a radar map-matching system) in which the return from a radar scanning antenna was matched with a series of "maps" carried on board the missile which corrected the flight path if it deviated from the film map. The company began lab tests in March 1948, flight tests in October of that year.

The international project, World Values Surveys(WVS) may be described as a series of intercultural studies on the basis of interviews with representative population samples from about 40 countries 1981-1984 and 1990-1993. An other was conducted during 1995-1997. A good indication of the positions of nearly all the non-hydrogen atoms in a protein can be obtained from a structure solved to a resolution of 3. 0 A or better. Such a study involves a series of stages. Firstly, tens of milligrams of the protein must be isolated in pure form, and then crystals of millimeter dimensions must be grown which diffract X-rays to high resolution. However, reconstruction of the electron density of the molecule from diffraction data requires information about the amplitude and the phase of the X-ray reflections. L'analyse par diffraction des rayons X est réalisée sur un cristal d'enzyme. Il ne s'agit au fond que d'un problème de géométrie cotée : on précise la position des atomes dans la molécule en recherchant les maxima de densité électronique. Muni de ces renseignements, on rétablit la structure de la molécule dans un espace à trois dimensions. Cette technique demande de très nombreux diagrammes de diffraction, sous différents angles et à différents degrés de résolution. Elle conduit, après d'importants calculs à l'aide d'ordinateurs, à la constitution de cartes de densité électronique à deux dimensions.

The first helicopter simulators used a rotor map technique which calculated the total thrust vector of the main rotor on the basis of a series of stored steady states... The simulator was therefore quite realistic in steady flight states, but...
