CONT

Another aspect of the US restructuring experience that has been key to the tactics of labour cost compression-a marked widening of income inequality. In 1995, the wages of US male earners were roughly 4, 4 times those of the lower decile... wage dispersion ratio was between 2. 0 and 3. 0 for Germany, Japan, Italy, Sweden, Finland and Australia. The ratio for UK was about 3. 3, and that for Canada about 3. 8.

CONT

DEF

A point on an aerological diagram where the dry adiabatic line representing the dry-bulb temperature, the saturated adiabatic line representing the wet-bulb temperature, and the saturation mixing ratio line representing the dew-point temperature of an air sample meet.

CONT

Find Normand point. From dry bulb point "x" draw an imaginary line toward the upper left, parallel to dry adiabatic lines. From dew point temperature marked ". "draw another imaginary line upward this time parallel to the mixing ratio line. At the intersection of these two lines, the plotter has placed another small dot. This is the Normand point.

OBS

Normand’s theorem [C.W.B. Normand in 1924]: a particular thermodynamic relation between temperature, thermodynamic wet-bulb temperature and dew-point temperature, expressed in terms of a construction on a tephigram or other thermodynamic diagram.

CONT

In practice, it is sensible to work with a spectrometer resolution which is high enough to avoid markedly non-linear calibration curves. This, of course, will increase the required spectrometer scan time, for a given signal/noise ratio in the spectrum, and a compromise may be necessary. The problem will not arise to a marked degree in the case of measurements on liquid samples, although peaks from some types of vibrational modes, e. g. the out of plane deformation modes of the hydrogen atoms attached to aromatic rings, give sharp and analytically useful peaks which are narrow enough to give these non-linear calibration curves.

OBS

calibration curve: A plot of calibration data, giving the correct value for each indicated reading of a meter or control dial.

CONT

OBS

The ratio of the linear dimensions of the original to those of the final reproduction. References such as "half size", "quarter size", "same size", "size as", etc., relate to area and are therefore confusing and should not be used. Following are examples of preferred methods of marking copy :(a) Per cent--such as 25%(b) Fraction--such as 1/4(c) 0. 25X(d) Dimension marks, such as a line drawn parallel to an 8-inch dimension and marked "2 inches". All these expressions indicate that a linear dimension is to be reduced to 25% of its original length.

Domaine(s)
  • Photographie
OBS
