Commencing in 1974 and produced by the Education and Cultural Affairs Division of the National Museum of Man in conjunction with the relevant research divisions, the Museum Kits were multi-media, thematic, learning packages which were loaned free of charge for two-week intervals to schools community groups, libraries, etc. Each "museum in a box" included artifacts, specimens and related interpretive material such as films, maps, fact sheets, slides and resource books. There were two types of kits-a small kit with limited artifacts and resource materials, usually in separate language versions and the larger, bilingual, more complex kits, with resources inserted according to the requirements of the borrowers. The kits were designed for the 11-14 age group and were to promote an understanding and appreciation for Canada's multicultural heritage as well as the functions and importance of human history museums within Canada. Catalogues of available kits were produced and circulated through the National Programs Division. They have been discontinued.

DIDO Experiment Container is essentially a box with a side length of 150 mm. Design philosophy of DIDO experiment foreseen an "all inside" approach, so(at this moment) the experiment container is a mere box with no windows or openings, or relevant external features. DIDO EC is intended as a structural part for the inside experiment; only mechanical, electrical and data interfaces are required to connect DIDO EC with GLAD facility. The box is assembled as one piece but the topside is removable to have access to DIDO experiment. In this way the topside component works as a cover plate. The EC is made by(TBD) material and to meet safety requirements EC' s corners are slightly rounded, materials must not be flammable and machined with non-toxic surface treatment. Cover plate is connected with the box through screws. The bottom side, instead, compose the "first plate" of DIDO experiment, housing tanks and pumping system. Another plate placed about half height provides a "second plate" for DIDO cell and relative optics, laser unit and CCD camera.

The Surface Science Package consists of nine independent sensor subsystems with the primary aim of characterising Titan's surface at the end of Huygens’ descent through Titan's atmosphere. The drainage lysimeter, used for monitoring infiltration and evapotranspiration, was installed... in September, 1995. The installation was quite simple. We dug out a hole 1. 5 meters square, 1. 5 meters deep, to accept the lysimeter box(a steel box 1. 5 meters deep, and 1. 2 meters by 1. 2 meters wide, with a slanted bottom;... We then placed the lysimeter box in its hole and leveled it. We placed two observation wells in the lysimeter--one in the deep corner and one in the shallow corner, and replaced the soil layers in the same order in which they were removed... Eventually, the material in the lysimeter will obtain its original properties and give a good representation of the surrounding soil type.

A type of package designed to contain a controlled activity of radioactive material which is limited to quantities specified in the Transport Packaging of Radioactive Materials Regulations of the AECB.

By definition, Type A packages contain less radioactive material than Type B packages. While Type B packages must be designed to survive accident conditions, Type A packages may release a limited amount of radioactive material or lose a limited amount of shielding in a severe accident.

CONT

A type A package may be a metal, plywood or cardboard box or drum, with internal foam inserts, lead shielding, absorbent material(if a liquid), and additional containment features. The package will have labels and the transport vehicle requires placarding.

The typical press fabric run includes tensioning and positioning rolls, and provides a means to condition and dewater the felt to keep it permeable and open. A variety of mechanical and/or chemical conditioning treatments are used depending on the requirements. Most systems utilize hydraulic energy(in the form of high-and low-pressure showers) as the primary means to loosen and flush out fines and fillers from the fabric structure. Following the showering treatments, the fabric is dewatered and the loosened filling material is removed either by a suction box or a "wringer press".

A general type of screen used for fine screening. It consists of a long rectangular box with three blank sides and an outlet on the fourth side. The outlet is fitted with flat, slotted metal plates over which the pulp suspension is allowed to flow. Screening action is induced by vibrating diaphragms below the plates. The diaphragms produce pulsations in the stock suspension causing acceptable fibers to pass through the slots with showers removing the rejected material at the end of the screen box for subsequent rescreening and final rejection.
