After grain was placed in the bin, a standard compartmentalized grain probe was used to obtain grain samples along the diameter of the bin at 30-cm intervals, starting at a point 15 cm from the bin wall. The grain probe was 3 m long, with compartments at 14-cm intervals. Samples from each two adjacent compartments in the probe were combined and screened with appropriate sieves to determine the fine material content. The percentages of fine material content in each sample established the distribution of fine material in the bin. 2, record 2, English, - compartmentalized%20grain%20probe

In the most common type of high temperature reactor (HTR) fuel, tiny particles of nuclear fuel are coated with three or four layers of coatings which are impenetrable to fission products up to a temperature of 2000 celsius. About 20,000 particles, bonded with graphite are massed together to form a spherical fuel element with a diameter of about 6 centimeters. The high temperature reactor ... might contain 100,000 or more of these fuel elements. 5, record 6, English, - fuel%20pebble

The pebbles are... designed to passively limit the amount of heat unleashed by the nuclear fission reactions that drive the reactor. The fissionable material is divided into groups of 100 million billion uranium-235 atoms scattered within a 0. 5 mm sphere of uranium dioxide. That core is coated with four containment layers.... Some 15, 000 carbon-coated uranium dioxide kernels, looking like nuclear poppy seeds, are embedded in a tennis ball-size graphite and resin matrix. Graphite acts to slow the fission neutrons and so acts as an embedded moderator. The matrix is then encased in a 5 mm pure carbon shell, sintered, annealed, and machined to a uniform diameter of 6 cm. 2, record 6, English, - fuel%20pebble

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association(RCMA) recommends certain procedures for the application of asphalt aluminum roof coatings... When roll or brush-applying an asphalt aluminum, it is important to finish the strokes in basically the same direction to achieve the best aesthetics. If aluminum flakes orient in the same direction, they reflect light more uniformly. Spray equipment is typically an airless sprayer, however any spray unit capable of spraying the coating in an even pattern can be used. Consult the coating or spray equipment manufacturer for proper selection, as the viscosity of the material, the hose internal diameter size, and length of hose all help determine the type of spray equipment needed for the job. 2, record 16, English, - spray%20equipment

Since the enzyme molecule entrapped is not chemically modified, its kinetic behavior in the hollow fiber enzyme reactor could be expected to be the same as that of the free enzyme. However, with hollow fiber reactors in the first category the permeation of substrate into the membrane is often the rate-determining step.... Thus, the apparent Michaelis constant Km(app) is often larger than the Km of the free enzyme. For example, a bacterial alkaline phosphatase entrapped in the outside region of a cellulose hollow fiber had a Km(app) l 700 times larger than the Km of the free enzyme. 3, record 19, English, - hollow%20fiber

While it is slowly descending back to earth, the balloon is tracked by a high-precision radar ... on the ground. The other type of meteorological payload that can be used on a meteorological rocket consists of a falling ROBIN sphere that is used when probing the atmosphere to over 100 km altitude. These altitudes are above the normal operating levels for the thermistors aboard the rocketsonde.... This ROBIN sphere is a spherical shaped balloon constructed of a thin(0. 0001 mm thick) radar-reflective mylar material that is inflated with a small charge of inert gas to a known mass and volume. The dart containing the sphere typically reaches an altitude of 115 km where the sphere is deployed and inflated. When the sphere is inflated to super-pressure of approximately 10-12 mb, the sphere will reach a 1 meter(3. 3. ft) diameter. When the balloon descends to an altitude of approximately 30 km, the air pressure outside the sphere will become greater than that inside, causing the sphere to collapse. 1, record 25, English, - ROBIN%20sphere

Unified and American National screw thread standards for screws, bolts, nuts, and other threaded parts consist of six series of threads and a selection of special threads that cover nonstandard combinations of diameter and pitch. In general, the unified screw threads are limited to three series : coarse(UNC), fine(UNF), and extrafine(UNEF). A 1/4-inch.-diameter thread in the UNC series has 20 threads/in., while in the UNF series it has 28.... The extrafine thread series(UNEF and NEF) is used principally in aeronautical structures where an extremely shallow thread is needed for thin-walled material and where a maximum practicable number of threads is required for a given length. 2, record 33, English, - Unified%20National%20Extra%2DFine%20screw%20thread

The SRMS [Station Remote Manipulator System] is a remotely controlled six degree-of-freedom payload handling device comprised of the following component sub-systems... Linking the shoulder, elbow and wrist joints are the upper and lower arm booms. These booms are constructed of graphite-epoxy. Aerofall Mill. The aerofall autogenous and semi-autogenous air swept mills are additional solutions for dry grinding. These mills are typically very large in diameter and very short in length achieving high throughput. The material is lifted to great heights using lifter bars and dropped with forceful impact onto itself in the mill. The mill system would include separators and cyclones downstream from the mill to return rejected material to the mill, if needed. The aerofall mill is good for grinding abrasive materials with high moisture content and large feed size. 3, record 43, English, - aerofall%20mill

Quarried material is taken by conveyor or trucks to the processing plant where, if it is in rock form, it will be crushed to ensure that it is of a suitable size to pass by conveyor to the stockpile. From the stockpile it is fed, again by conveyor and a controlled amount of water to a rotating aerofall mill, which contains heavy metal liners, which help tumble the rock onto itself, crushing through various screens, spiral classifiers and washing tanks to remove unwanted impurities. 4, record 43, English, - aerofall%20mill

Retention criterion.... Criteria for granular filters can be found in many text book on soil mechanics.... In these criteria, which have been drawn up on the basis of laboratory tests, a defined grain size is often compared with a pore diameter of the filter. The behaviour of soil material, especially in the case of cohesive soils, is a far too complicated phenomenon to be predicted only from the grain-size distribution. Because of this there is little to be gained by enumerating a large number of sometimes contradictory criteria for both granular and synthetic filter materials. 3, record 54, English, - retention%20criterion
