Viruses mutate constantly. This is especially true of viruses that contain RNA as their genetic material, such as coronaviruses and influenza viruses.... Every now and then, an error occurs during the virus's copying process. That's a mutation. Most of the time, mutations are so small that they don’t significantly affect how the virus works, or they make the virus weaker... There are two basic methods of measuring material with portable gauges, backscatter and direct transmission. "Direct transmission" is considered the more precise of the two, as it offers less error in measuring composition and compensates for surface roughness. To measure soil density, for example, the source is placed in a tube and inserted beneath the surface through a punched access hole. Radiation is then transmitted from the source to a detector on the base of the gauge. The density of the soil is determined by the radiation level at the detector. 1, record 13, English, - direct%20transmission%20method

4, record 19, French, - erreur%20d%27arrondi

Since the specified limit is for residual contamination, the use of swipes as a method of measurement may also lead to underestimating the true level of contamination, although it is useful for determining the amount of material which is readily removable at that time. Because of the above consideration, the recommended method of determining compliance with the criteria is through the use of a beta contamination monitor, properly calibrated for measuring the beta particles from natural uranium. If this instrument is used assuming that its entire response is due to beta radiation, any error will be in the safe direction. 1, record 26, English, - beta%20contamination%20monitor

1, record 26, French, - moniteur%20de%20contamination%20b%C3%AAta
