... material extrusion(which includes a number of different types of processes such as fused deposition modeling) is the most common process used in desktop 3D printers. Material extrusion works like a glue gun. The printing material – typically a plastic filament – is heated until it liquefies and extruded through the print nozzle. Using information from the digital file... the nozzle deposits the polymer in thin layers, often 0. 1 millimeter thick. The polymer solidifies quickly, bonding to the layer below before the build platform lowers and the print head adds another layer. 2, record 3, English, - material%20extrusion

Food extruders are often starve-fed, which means the feed input to the extruder is controlled externally with an independent feeder and is less than the maximum throughput for a given screw speed. Scrap is a fact of life in plastics processing plants. Runners and sprues, reject molded parts, and trim from film extrusion and thermoforming operations, represent significant amounts of material that must be dealt with by the manufacturer. Whether the scrap is to be disposed or reused, it is usually put through a size reduction process for easier handling. In the case of thermoplastics, scrap is easily reused by reducing its size to the point where it can be fed into processing equipment in the same manner as virgin resin. 5, record 22, English, - waste

The extrusion head used in blow molding is one of three basic styles : the spider or axial flow head, the side feed or radial flow head, and the accumulator head. In the simplest form of the spider or axial flow head, a central torpedo is positioned in the melt flow path supported generally by two spider legs. The smooth and direct path with little or no place for material to hang up and degrade makes this head ideal for PVC resin. Cross-sectional areas of the melt flow path from the extruder, over the torpedo, and over the spider legs are carefully balanced to ensure an even and consistent pressure and flow. 2, record 23, English, - spider%20head

Several original polymer families are to be launched at NPE. Perhaps the most impelling is aliphatic polyketone from Shell Chemical Co. [Stand S1323]. The products(tradename Carilon) are said to mold well, exhibiting superior mechanical and temperature-resistance performances and excellent part surface properties. They require no pre-drying. Material is viable in injection, blow and rotomolding, and pipe, sheet, and profile extrusion. 4, record 25, English, - aliphatic%20polyketone

[...] Premiers secteurs d'application visés : l'automobile, l'électrotechnique et l'électroménager. 1, record 25, French, - polyc%C3%A9tone%20aliphatique

Polyaryl sulfone offers the unique combination of thermoplasticity and retention of structurally useful properties at 500°. This material is supplied in both pellet and powder form. Its thermoplastic nature allows it to be fabricated by injection molding or extrusion techniques on standard commercially available equipment. Polyaryl sulfone consists mainly of phenyl and biphenyl groups linked by thermally stable ether and sulfone groups. It is distinguished from polysulfone polymers by the absence of aliphatic groups, which are liable to oxidative attack. This aromatic structure gives it excellent resistance to oxidative degradation and accounts for its retention of mechanical properties at high temperatures. 1, record 29, English, - polyaryl%20sulfone

Ethylenecopolymer bitumen(ECB). ECB membranes have been developed basically for the roofing industry but are also applied in civil engineering as sealing materials. The raw materials used for ECB are ethylene and bytyl acrylate, together forming 50 to 60%, and a special bitumen, 40 to 50%. These materials are mixed in an extrusion process at a temperature of about 160 °C. The bitumen gives the material a thermoplastic character and also acts as a softener and a light stabilizer. 1, record 30, English, - ethylene%20copolymer%20bitumen
