Anhedonia, roughly defined as the diminishment or absence of the capacity to experience pleasure or joy in the performance of daily activities, is a core symptom of major depressive disorder, as well as other psychiatric illnesses.... According to the capacity theory, anhedonia is a matter of the cap on this maximum amount of pleasure being significantly lowered. An anhedonic person is simply unable to ever experience the amount of pleasure that a non-anhedonic person can, and consequently fails to experience the same amount of pleasure from certain activities as they used to. 3, record 2, English, - anhedonic%20person

Disinfection process, mainly with chlorine, to prevent microbiological contamination of water can lead to the formation of hazardous disinfection by-products(DBPs) due to the reaction of chlorine with natural organic matter(NOM) present in the water.... Beyond specific health based thresholds, DBPs can represent a public health issue due to the potential chronic risk of adverse effects on human health(e. g., cancer, reproductive and developmental effects) and the high prevalence of exposure. Thus, DBPs constitute an important concern for water systems, especially systems supplied by surface waters.... Recently, a technique known as differential UV [ultraviolet] absorbance(DUVA) has been developed that could provide a sensitive and highly specific indicator for DBP formation resulting from chlorination. 2, record 8, English, - differential%20UV%20absorbance

2, record 8, French, - diff%C3%A9rentiel%20d%27absorbance%20UV

Both the biofilm process and the activated sludge process are methods that use microorganisms to remove organic matter from sewage. In the activated sludge process, microorganisms grow in a suspended state, so the treatment system is also called a suspended growth system. In contrast, microorganisms in the biofilm process attach to the surface of certain substances, making the system an attached growth system. The biofilm process mainly includes biofilters, rotating biological contactors, and fluidized bed bioreactors. The basic principle of the biofilm process is to achieve contact between sewage and biofilm through their relative movement, enabling solid-liquid mass exchange. Organic matter undergoes biological oxidation within the biofilm, purifying the sewage. 3, record 9, English, - attached%20growth%20process

1, record 19, French, - preuve%20de%20propension

The key idea in explaining the way in which structures evolve in the universe is gravitational instability. If material is to be brought together to form structures then a long-range force is required, and gravity is the only known possibility.... Suppose that at some initial time, say decoupling, there are small irregularities in the distribution of matter. Those regions with more matter will exert a greater gravitational force on their neighbouring regions, and hence tend to draw surrounding material in. This extra material makes them even denser than before, increasing their gravitational attraction and further enhancing their pull on their neighbours... 2, record 37, English, - gravitational%20instability

3, record 50, French, - petit%20corps%20du%20Syst%C3%A8me%20solaire

The creation of a BPD [biliopancreatic diversion] necessarily requires an alternation of the normal GI [gastrointestinal] continuity. The basic components of the mechanism, no matter how it is constructed, are as follows :(1) an intestinal segment, immediately following the duodenum, where the meeting between food and digestive juices is prevented, called biliopancreatic limb(BPL) as it only leads the biliodigestive juices to the point of meeting with food;(2) an intestinal segment leading food from the stomach to the point where aliments meet the biliopancreatic secretions, called alimentary limb(AL) ;(3) an intestinal segment, between the point of meeting and the ileocecal valve(ICV), where biliopancreatic digestion starts and the products of it can be absorbed(common limb or CL). 5, record 79, English, - common%20limb

The Canadian Forest Fire Weather Index(FWI) System consists of six components that account for the effects of fuel moisture and weather conditions on fire behavior. The first three components are fuel moisture codes, which are numeric ratings of the moisture content of the forest floor and other dead organic matter. Their values rise as the moisture content decreases. There is one fuel moisture code for each of three layers of fuel : litter and other fine fuels; loosely compacted organic layers of moderate depth; and deep, compact organic layers. The remaining three components are fire behavior indices, which represent the rate of fire spread, the fuel available for combustion, and the frontal fire intensity; these three values rise as the fire danger increases. 1, record 91, English, - Canadian%20Forest%20Fire%20Weather%20Index%20System

1, record 91, French, - M%C3%A9thode%20canadienne%20de%20l%27indice%20for%C3%AAt%2Dm%C3%A9t%C3%A9o

Jus in bello, also referred to as international humanitarian law(IHL), applies to all warring parties irrespective of the reasons for the conflict. Necessity and proportionality have always been core principles of both branches of the jus belli principles that apply to both the authority to employ military force and the regulation of actual employment. However, in the jus ad bellum context, they have never before been viewed as principles to regulate operational and tactical execution. Instead, in that context they frame the legality of national or multinational resort to military force in self-defense. Once the decision is made to employ force pursuant to this authority, the jus in bello variant of these principles (necessity of the mission and proportionality of collateral damage) operate to regulate the application of combat power during mission execution (in other words, they provide the foundation for the regulation of the application of combat power in the context of the self-defense-justified mission). 5, record 93, English, - international%20humanitarian%20law

Cognitive reframing of victimization : Self-comparison and emphasizing the positive aspects of having survived. In research on sexual assault victims, Hagemann(1992) noted that some victims feel better by focusing on how they are now survivors. Thompson(2000) noted that sexual assault victims may initially embrace the term "victim" because it shows that the assault was not their fault. As they deal with their experience, they switch to "survivor" because it reflects strength, recovery, and being a fighter. This seems to help some victims regain control over their lives. When dealing with tough situations, people often need to make sense of what happened and then search for some personal benefit, no matter how negative the event was... 1, record 96, English, - survivor

3, record 100, French, - personne%20alli%C3%A9e
