For some plants accumulation of metals appears to be an active process possibly related to a tolerance mechanism for their survival on contaminated sites. For such plants leaf concentrations of heavy metals can reach high levels(for example around 1% for zinc or manganese, and 0. 1% for cadmium, on a dry matter basis). In Europe these plants tend to be members of the Brassicaeae and are generally found on "naturally" contaminated soils, such as serpentine soils. These plants are referred to as "hyperaccumulators" to distinguish the nature of their metal accumulation from passive accumulation processes... 2, record 4, English, - hyperaccumulation

The biochemical process whereby ammoniacal nitrogen is released from nitrogen-containing organic compounds. Soil bacteria decompose organic nitrogen forms in soil to the ammonium form. This process is referred to as ammonification. The mount of nitrogen released for plant uptake by this process is most directly related to the organic matter content. The initial breakdown of a urea fertilizer may also be termed as an ammonification process. 3, record 5, English, - ammoniacal%20nitrogen

... organic anions are released in the fermentation medium by fermenting bacteria. They are "transitory end products" because they act as electron sinks in biological energy conserving redox reactions. They have to be looked at as waste molecules, rich in reducing equivalents if these reactions are considered from the hydrogen transfer point of view. Typical examples of these organic "transitory end products" are lactate and volatile fatty acid anions such as propionate, n-and iso-butyrate, n-and iso-valerate. Because of this, the fermentation of soluble organic matter is classically referred to as "acidogenesis". It should, however, be strongly emphasized here that acidogenesis in a strict sense only means the release in the fermentation medium of organic acid anions! 1, record 7, English, - acidogenesis

3, record 7, French, - acidog%C3%A9n%C3%A8se
