Unilateral eyestalk ablation has been widely implemented in aquaculture to accelerate the gonadal maturation and consequently increase the seed production of shrimp broodstock... This technique removes one eyestalk, which hosts the sinus-organ X that produces hormones such as the gonad inhibiting hormone. These hormones are responsible for accelerating maturation and leads to predictable peaks of maturation and spawning that facilitates the setting up of production schedules... Pituitary gland is the main source of the major hormones responsible for reproduction in catfish and other farmed species. The hormonal induction involves the injection of pituitary gland extract from the donor fish of equivalent weight... or from other species to the female spawned. Pituitary gland secretes the gonadotropins such as follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) and luteinising hormone(LH). FSH causes growth and maturation of ovarian follicles in females and spermatogenesis in the testes of males. A study was conducted examining the rates of development of components of the reproductive tract during sexual maturation in a flock of naturally mating Bronze turkeys. Birds were processed at 7-d intervals beginning at photostimulation(29. 5 wk of age), for the following 5 wk, and following their first oviposition. The relatively low BW of this strain(6. 6 kg) was associated with a very low lipid content(16. 4%), abdominal fat pad weight(107 g), and breast muscle weight(1. 15 kg). At sexual maturity the ovary contained 12. 2 large yellow follicles with 1. 4 unreconciled POF(the remnant of the site of ovulation). The presence of unreconciled POF suggest that this may be a natural phenomenon in turkeys and not limited to modern fast growing strains. 3, record 26, English, - unreconciled%20POF

The intestinal microbes are taxonomically complex and constitute an ecologically dynamic community(microbiota) that has long been believed to possess a strong impact on human physiology. Furthermore, they are heavily involved in the maturation and proliferation of human intestinal cells, helping to maintain their homeostasis and can be causative of various diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and obesity... Through metagenomic analysis, it is now possible to comprehensively explore the genetic nature of the intestinal microbiome, the mutually interacting system comprising the host cells and the residing microbial community. 1, record 36, English, - human%20intestinal%20microbiome

After periods of in vitro and in vivo culture, the transplanted tooth germ in the toothless gap area showed bioengineered tooth with supportive structure formation. Rickets and osteomalacia are diseases characterized by defective bone and cartilage mineralization in children and bone mineralization in adults. The abnormal calcification of cartilage occurs at epiphyseal growth plates, which also exhibit delayed maturation of the cartilage cellular sequence and disorganization of cell arrangement.... The clinical features of rickets, although variable to some degree according to the underlying disorder, are primarily related to skeletal pain and deformity, bone fractures, slipped epiphyses, and abnormalities of growth. In addition, hypocalcemia, when present, may be severe enough to produce tetany, laryngeal spasm, and seizures. In infants and young children, symptoms include listlessness, irritability, and, in some forms of metabolic rickets, profound hypotonia and proximal muscle weakness. 1, record 52, English, - rickets

The skill in producing a good Geuze is in balancing the right young and old Lambics in the right quantities. The right ratio young/old is depending on the maturation degree(end attenuation) of each of them. Once the blend is bottled, it undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle(Method Champenoise), creating the unique flavor. The alternative to depending on training sites for classification is to apply the concept of signature extension. This term refers to the assumption that a single, more or less constant, spectral signature may be defined as characteristic of any class, and that this signature has broad(universal) applicability to any scene in a region, or even worldwide. As a specific example, the signature for winter wheat at its maturation should be essentially the same for fields in the U. S. Great Plains, Argentina, the Ukraine, and Australia-provided such variables as differing air masses, Sun position, soil types, soil moisture, etc. are compensated for. If that proves true, then an unknown feature or class in a given scene anywhere should be classifiable by comparing its spectral properties(for a Landsat pixel, its multiband digital number [DN] values) to a "data bank" containing standard values for each of many classes. The closest fit of the unknown's DN [digital number] values to those of some one class in the bank is assumed to identify it. 3, record 78, English, - signature%20extension

The binding strength of antibodies to multivalent antigens, called avidity, is generally low in primary acute infections and increases in response to the maturation of the immune system. Measurement of avidity in serum dilutions is complicated and therefore, no avidity data are available in syphilis serology. By introduction of a solid phase elution method, avidity can be determined quickly using a sandwich ELISA for quantification of specific IgG antibodies with a lysate of treponema pallidum as antigen. 1, record 80, English, - avidity

1, record 93, French, - %C3%A2ge%20osseux

Differences in the composition of Polish "Starka" vodka and Russian vodka, due to different technologies, were demonstrated by sensory tests and chemical analyses. Polish "Starka" is a whisky-type vodka, produced from non-rectified rye spirit stored for greater than or equal 10 years in oak barrels. Due to this, the content of acids, esters and tannin matter is about 5 times higher than in the Soviet vodka, also, the fusel oil content is higher and is near to the fusel oil content in whisky. "Starka" production has 3 phases : raw rye spirit production, maturation of the spirit in oak barrels and compounding the matured spirit.(Pascal data base). 2, record 96, English, - matured%20spirits
