A branch point is a specific nucleotide within a pre-mRNA [pre-messenger ribonucleic acid] molecule where the splicing process occurs, allowing for the removal of introns and the joining of exons. This location is crucial for accurate splicing and influences the formation of mature mRNA [messenger ribonucleic acid], which can lead to different protein products through alternative splicing. The branch point typically contains an adenosine residue, which plays a vital role in the catalysis of the splicing reaction. 3, record 1, English, - branch%20point

determinate(D) plants are more compact, bushy, and short-lived in nature. They generally have one main growth spurt, reach a certain size, and then yield a single large set of fruit all at once(or during a short period of time). Once a mature determinate plant has produced its main “bumper crop”, the plant will drastically slow down in production or stop growing entirely. Bush tomatoes and bush green beans are prime examples of determinate plants. 1, record 3, English, - determinate%20plant

Freshly harvested "green" wild rice is invariably on the damp side. It must commence drying, or "curing," almost immediately, or souring and mold will develop, especially in broken or crushed grains. Another purpose of the curing period is to give the immature grains a chance to ripen. Given this opportunity, a good number of the soft grains will get hard and gain the dark brown or black color of a ripe grain. 2, record 16, English, - green%20wild%20rice

Grapes begin their growth cycle in the spring when average daily temperature is about 10 °C(50 °F). To reach maturity, they require a certain amount of heat above 10 °C during the growing season. This amount of heat, called the heat summation, is calculated by totalling the number of degrees of average daily temperature over 10 °C for each day of the growing season. A heat summation of about 1, 800 is required for successful growth. If the heat summation is less than required, the grapes will not ripen; they will reach the end of the growing season with insufficient sugar and too much acidity.... Where the heat summation is much greater than required,... the grapes mature earlier and with less acidity and colour than those produced under cooler conditions. Factors influencing the heat summation of a vineyard and, therefore, grape composition include exposure... air drainage..., soil temperature(above 10 °C during the growing season), and soil moisture content... 3, record 29, English, - heat%20summation

The tobacco moth feeds on a variety of stored products including almost all grains, many ground cereal products, tobacco, chocolate, spices, etc. This species is often associated with the Indian-meal moth, causing similar damage. These spots are absent on Indian-meal moth larvae. 2, record 56, English, - tobacco%20moth

The adult tobacco moth is a small, grey or brownish-grey moth with a wing-spread of about 1. 4 centimetres. The female lays about 200 eggs, either singly or in small groups. The larvae are dull creamy white and about 1. 2 centimetres in length when mature. The tobacco moth passes the winter as a larva, hibernating in a loose cocoon in cracks and crevices in buildings. Pupation occurs in late spring and the adults mate and lay eggs shortly after emergence. The webbing spun by the larvae is lighter than that of the Indian-meal moth. 2, record 56, English, - tobacco%20moth

The adults vary in size with the male having a wing-spread of about 2 centimetres, while the female may at times exceed 2. 5 centimetres. The forewings are dark brown with a number of blackish-brown spots. Approximately 300 eggs are laid by each female, most of them within a few days of mating. Three times as many eggs are laid on sacking as on grain. The mature larva is about 2 centimetres in length, shiny white in colour, with a yellow head. The feeding larva spins a light, closely-woven tube of silk as it eats its way through a food mass. When temperatures are too low, many of the larvae become dormant rather than pupate, extending the larval stage. High relative humidity is a requirement for satisfactory larval growth. At summer temperatures and a relative humidity of approximately 90% the life cycle takes about 100 days. 1, record 57, English, - brown%20house%20moth

The actual method used in initial crossing of wheat varieties is conditioned by the fact that wheat is bi-sexual and normally self-pollinating. Before the wheat plant has shed its pollen, the anthers are removed with forceps from the flowers of the plant that is to become the female parent, and a cover is slipped over the emasculated wheat head to exclude foreign pollen. Two or three days later, the cover is taken off and ripe anthers are removed from another wheat plant, selected as the male parent, broken over the stigma of each emasculated flower, and the cover replaced. The fertilized egg cells now develop into grains which usually mature a little more than a month later. 2, record 80, English, - self%2Dpollinating

1, record 80, French, - autof%C3%A9cond%C3%A9e

Downy mildew of grape can be a serious disease in ... vineyards. This fungus disease develops whenever weather during the growing season is moist and temperatures are cool to moderate. The downy mildew fungus attacks leaves, fruit, shoots and tendrils. The disease may cause premature defoliation in mid to late summer that results in a weakening of the plant and reduced sugar content of the fruit. 2, record 84, English, - downy%20mildew%20of%20grape

On leaves, young infections appear as very small, greenish-yellow, translucent spots that are difficult to see. With time, the lesions enlarge and a white moldy growth composed of fungus threads(mycelium) and spores form on the undersides of the leaves. If lesions are numerous they may merge and cover most of the leaf. Infected leaves eventually turn brown, become dry and drop. Exposed berries may be scalded by the sun. If vines are defoliated before the ripening period, grapes may not mature normally. 2, record 84, English, - downy%20mildew%20of%20grape

2, record 84, French, - mildiou%20de%20la%20vigne

Didymella applanata, a fungus. The disease is found in western Oregon and Washington on red rasberry, ’Loganberry’, and ’Youngberry’. The ’Willamette’ cultivar of red raspberry is rapidly infected by spur blight but also is tolerant and can produce a satisfactory crop even if disease incidence is high. From early April mature black fruiting bodies(perithecia) can be found in the gray affected areas of cane tissue. Perithecia discharge ascospores during favorable(wet) weather, continuing perhaps until the end of June. Ascospores infect leaves on new shoots, but under very favorable conditions may infect young canes and laterals directly. 1, record 90, English, - spur%20blight
