No one can deny the importance of integrating the community and its inhabitants in the development and planning processes of a renovation project within their neighborhood. Nevertheless, the traditional methods of participatory urban planning often inhibit some of the sections of the community to express themselves and do not allow enough time for the maturing and appropriation of the projects. This scenario calls out for new forms of intervention that embrace the involvement of the inhabitants throughout the entire development process so that a new steadfast culture of public participation may emerge. 1, record 19, English, - participatory%20urban%20planning

Freshly milled flour has a creamy colour because it contains carotenoids, the same pigments that make certain fruits and vegetables yellow. In 1892, at Agriculture Canada's Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa, Dr. Charles Saunders made a selection of a cross of an early ripening Indian wheat, Hard Red Calcutta, with Red Fife. This selection was developed and licensed under the name Marquis. It was early maturing, produced high yields, and had the same excellent milling and baking qualities as Red Fife. Its quality became world renowned and was the single most important factor in establishing Canada's initial reputation as a producer of high quality wheat. Its performance was such that all inferior varieties were practically eliminated from production. 1, record 32, English, - early%20maturing%20wheat

2, record 40, French, - propri%C3%A9t%C3%A9s%20de%20la%20farine

IVF/ET is an ART [assisted reproductive technology] technique during which human eggs are fertilized in the laboratory("in vitro") rather than in the fallopian tube("in vivo"). For this purpose, the eggs are removed from the woman's ovaries with a fine needle; after maturing in the laboratory, they are fertilized with the husband's sperm; and after fertilization, the dividing embryos are transferred into the wife's reproductive system. 1, record 41, English, - in%20vitro%20fertilization%20and%20embryo%20transfer

The principle of cheesemaking involves the coagulation of milk protein followed by the separation of the resultant curds and whey(solid and liquid). Much more is now known of the science of cheesemaking, but the process remains very much a skill and a craft. Recipes are available for many varieties but the skill of the cheesemaker remains paramount. Changes in the milk, the seasons, how the cultures behave during the making process, all these, as well as the actual maturing process, affect the end results. 2, record 44, English, - cheesemaking

Scientific wheat breeding in Canada had its origin in 1903 when Dr. Charles Saunders(son of William Saunders, the founder of Canadian Experimental Farms) selected one head of Marquis wheat from across of the European variety, Red Fife, and a much earlier maturing, unknown variety of hard red spring wheat from Calcutta, India. Since that time, more sophisticated breeding techniques have evolved but the original challenge of man against nature continues to be ever present. 1, record 47, English, - Marquis%20wheat

Wheat was introduced into Western Canada in 1812 by the Selkirk Settlers who settled in the Red River Valley of Manitoba. There were many difficult years in the early history of wheat production. On a number of occasions almost entire crops were destroyed by grasshoppers, rust epidemics and frost. With the introduction of earlier maturing and more disease resistant varieties, the industry progressed in keeping with growth of population. The first wheat exported from Manitoba was 23 tonnes of Red Fife seed to Ontario in 1876. 1, record 56, English, - Selkirk%20Settlers

The Rouergue and Quercy regions both nested in the colourful Aquitaine, supply us with this small 40 gr cheese. It can be made with goat or ewes milk and sometimes with a mix of the two. The Cabecou, with its 45% of fat in it, is nonetheless called a soft cheese, covered with a thin bluey natural skin which appears only when the maturing and ventilation is carefully done. The taste is very unique and you can find some hints of nuts according to its village of origin. Its name comes from the shortened version of "small goat" in Oc, the local southern language. 1, record 58, English, - Cabecou
