Maverick is a term, usually referring to cattle, for an animal that does not carry a brand. In the period of the United States open range, such animals were relatively common. Many cows would give birth in wild or semi-wild conditions, not be located in an annual round up, and their ensuing calf could thus grow to maturity without having been captured and branded for ownership. The term derived from Samuel Maverick, who, among his other claims to fame, was notorious for not branding his cattle. Other U. S. terms for unbranded cattle include slick, hairy dick, and, in Spanish-speaking areas of the Southwest, orejano. In other parts of the world, different terms are used. In Australia and New Zealand, for example, an unbranded animal is a cleanskin. 1, record 10, English, - unbranded%20animal

Temporal dynamics or the temporal continuity of ecosystems... In forest management, a tree can be considered to go through four main development stages : a) A period of youth from seedling to low pole, characterized by strong individual sensitivity to intra and interspecific competition... b) An adult stage of development from high pole to young forest. Each tree has asserted itself in its respective strata, i. e., ensuring a vital space for energy(light, mineral salts) and water. In primary forest, competition obviously still takes place, particularly when climatic conditions prove difficult, bringing about a difference in vigour between individuals of the same species(thus in relative diameter). c) A period of maturity... d) A period of senescence... 2, record 22, English, - high%20pole

The credit conversion factor applied to a commitment is dependent on its maturity. Longer maturity commitments are considered to be of higher risk because there is a longer period between credit reviews and less opportunity to withdraw the commitment if the credit quality of the drawer deteriorates.
