Public service employees who write job descriptions and/or sit on classification evaluation committees are expected to have an in-depth knowledge of the classification process. This orientation course outlines how to write and evaluate work descriptions using current classification standards as well as how to participate as a rating member on a classification evaluation committee. Participants will acquire a better understanding of the classification process and its impact on other human resources(HR) functions.

The Packaging Standards Committee has been around for a long time---Only you may have known it as the Freight Classification Committee of the Canadian Freight Association. We have taken on a brand new name and joined the Railway Association of Canada. The Packaging Standards Committee is comprised of professionals form the Damage Prevention and Freight Claims Services of the Member Railroads as well as a representative member of the RAC who is Chairman of the Committee.

The prime objective of PSC is to ensure goods shipped by rail in Canada are reasonably packaged for safe transportation to their destination.
