The IIHF, founded on May 15, 1908 in Paris, France, is the governing body of international ice hockey and inline hockey. The IIHF features 65 member associations, each of which is the national governing body of the sport in its nation. Besides controlling the international rulebook, processing international player transfers, and dictating officiating guidelines, the IIHF runs numerous development programmes designed to bring hockey to a broader population. The IIHF also presides over ice hockey in the Olympic Games, and over the IIHF World Championships at all levels, men, women, juniors under-20, juniors under-18 and women under-18.

Shibogama is a regional tribal council located in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada. Like many of the other regional councils, Shibogama is a member of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation. On September 28th, 1984, the Shibogama Area Tribal Council was established at the Kasabonika Lake Band Office. In January 1985, Shibogama First Nations Council was incorporated, making it officially an organization that is controlled and governed by the Board of Directors who are the Chiefs from each of the member First Nations.

Trapping for subsistence. Under Chapter 16 of First Nation Final Agreements, beneficiaries have the right to trap furbearers for subsistence(sustenance) within their traditional territory. So, if you are a member of a Yukon First Nation with a Final Agreement, you have the right to trap furbearers in your traditional territory, but you must eat the meat of the animals you trap before using the pelt or other parts. You can then trade, barter or sell the non-edible byproducts, but only to other members of your First Nation or other Yukon First Nations.

The North Peace Tribal Council(NPTC) was incorporated in 1987 by the Beaver First Nation, Dene Tha’ First Nation, Little Red River Cree First Nation, Tallcree First Nations. The mission statement is to : address issues, resolve problems, share information and deliver programs and projects to achieve efficiencies by working together as Chiefs, Councilors and Elders and by engaging their first nation members.
