The first Study of accounting terminology by the CICA, Accounting Terminology for Canadian Practice, was published in 1938 and consisted of nearly 500 items. Over the years, the work has been revised and expanded. Accounting Terminology was published in 1957 with 517 terms, Terminology for Accountants in 1962 with 804, and the revised edition in 1976 with, 1, 336 terms. The present edition contains, 1, 621 terms. Terminology for Accountants, Third edition, was prepared by the Terminology Committee of the CICA, the names of the members of which are set out below.
